Peter Meredith is a reputed American writer of the fantasy, horror, mystery, science fiction, thriller, post-apocalypse, and zombie stories. He has written more than 35 books in his career in multiple genres. The popular book series written by Meredith include Generation Z, Gods of the Undead, The Apocalypse Crusade, The Undead World, Trilogy of the Void, etc. Prior to trying his hand in the field of writing, Meredith has worked as an ER nurse and a real estate developer. He has also been the CEO of a lighting company. After trying all these career fields, Meredith finally found his true addiction in writing novels. He likes to write drama, apocalypse, horror, post-apocalypse, and fantasy stories. For a period of 4 years, Meredith has served in the United States Army. He has served as a medic and was also involved in the 82 airborne division at the time of the first Gulf War.
Author Meredith was born in Kodiak, Alaska and was brought up in New York City. He is happily married to his wife of 27 years named Stacy. The couple has 2 children and 1 grandchild. Currently, the family resides in Colorado, where Meredith spends most of his daytime writing novels and uses his spare times to enjoy the company of his family members. When Meredith’s business of LED lighting suffered a slow death at the time of the Great Recession, he was left disheartened. But, when the idea of writing a novel struck his mind, he thought that life has given him a second chance. Meredith’s joy knew no bounds when his first book became widely successful. He was happy to continue writing novels and later adopted it as a full-time career.
Meredith considers himself blessed to have achieved success after going through a number of failures in his life. He says that he was always inspired by authors like Stephen King and JRR Tolkien, whose works have influenced his writing style a lot. Over the years, Meredith and his wife Stacy have helped to raise as many as 55 foster kids. They believe that it was a chance given to them to serve humanity and take great pride in having raised all those children successfully. The couple became even prouder when one of the foster children, Dean, went on to serve in the US Army. Meredith’s first book, The Horror of the Shade, was inspired by a paranormal event in which he himself was involved.
When he was 7 years old, he and 2 of his brothers had encountered a ghost sighting for 2 seconds. Years later, when Meredith recollected this event, he thought of developing it into a novel. However, he did not include the part of his brothers. Also, Meredith replaced the ghost with a demon and added a hot & diabolical witch. He described the main characters in the form of a hunky 17-year-old boy and his schizophrenic sister. In order to make the book more interesting, he included gypsies, blood, murder, exorcisms, sin, and a few scenes of sex. He mixed all these elements and came up with a non-stop action story depicting a family in peril. According to Meredith, the story is about people in love, danger, and fighting for the survival of their souls. Meredith was happy to know that this book fared very well after its publishing. Riding on the success of this first novel, Meredith went on to write many other successful books.
A very popular book series written by Peter Meredith is known as the Generation Z series. It is comprised of a total of 5 books released between 2018 and 2019. The events of this book continue from where Meredith’s Undead World series had ended. Some of the characters from that series are also featured in this series. The list of essential characters mentioned in this particular series includes Mike, Jillybean, Stu Currans, Jenn Lockhart, Troy Holt, Deanna Grey, Neil Martin, Emily Grey, etc. The debut book of this series is known as ‘Generation Z’. It was released as a Kindle book in 2018. The book opens by showing that 12 years have passed since the hordes of undead zombies attacked the living humans and forced mankind to the point of extinction.
The survivors are forced to live the life of rats. They scavenge in the fallen civilization’s ruins with the fear of the undead attacking them from anywhere. However, there is not much to scavenge. The grocery stores were already emptied many years ago and gas tanks have also gone dry. The thing that the survivors consider most precious in such a time of peril is bullets. As they continue to survive, they wonder how long can they go like this. They have witnessed Darwin’s theory proven wrong as the strongest were the first ones to die. A generation full of orphans has been left behind that has never eaten a full meal. This generation doesn’t have any idea about Xbox or algebra or any otherworldly thing. The only thing they know is that they must cry softly and laugh loudly as the undead are always roaming nearby in search of humans to get rid of their hunger.
The second volume of the series is called ‘The Queen of the Dead’. It was also published in 2018 in the form of a Kindle book. The central characters featuring in this installment include Jillybean, Stu, Jenn, Mike, the Corsairs, etc. Initially, it is mentioned that the Corsairs are driven away from the survivors temporarily. Jillybean is well aware that they are going to return with a much larger force to take revenge. Somehow, she finds herself trapped on a hilltop that is surrounded by too many zombies. Jillybean wants to get out from there as soon as possible because the stock of medicine is almost over and wants to get more supplies. Also, her own people begin to suspect her actions and see her as dangerously unpredictable. When Jillybean is labeled with the accusation of committing a murder in cold blood, she realizes that things are going out of her control. Also, Jillybean narrowly escapes a fire break out on the hilltop that burns half of the region to ash. She gets some help from Jenn, Mike, and Stu, but that doesn’t seem to be adequate. In her rage, Jillybean declares herself queen without caring about what others think about her. Jillybean prepares herself for the upcoming Corsair attack.
