This missionary movement is responsible for planting churches in thousands in over seventy-five countries of the world. Fomum also worked as an Organic Chemistry professor. He had over 160 publications to his name that appeared in leading journals internationally. In 2005, Fomum had published some of his scientific works that were evaluated by prominent scientists from across the globe and found to be highly distinctive. This helped him to earn his Doctor of Science degree from Durham University, Great Britain. Fomum’s books continue to impact the lives of people even today and influence them to do good deeds in life.

Author Fomum was born on June 20, 1945, and found a new birth on June 13, 1956. In October 1966, he declared that he will spend the rest of his life in the service of Lord Jesus and was fully committed to it. Fomum got filled with Holy Spirit in 1970 and since then, he had been motivating people to turn to Jesus and follow his principles. Fomum breathed his last on March 14, 2009, and was set on the course to finally meet Lord Jesus. In 1969, he had participated in a science competition and emerged as the winner. This helped him to get find a seat in the first class in BS degree at Sierra Leone University. He was just 28 years old when he received his Ph.D. in the subject of Organic Chemistry from the Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. Fomum followed the academic path and joined Durham University for his D.Sc. degree. After this, he began teaching Organic Chemistry at Yaounde 1 University, Cameroon.

During the time he was employed there, Fomum was involved in supervising or co-supervising over 100 Doctoral Degree and Master’s Degree theses. He even co-authored more than 160 articles of science. Fomum was a firm believer that Jesus Christ was Lord of Science, justifying it by saying that all the things were created by Him. For him, scientific research was like an obedient act towards God’s command. Therefore, he had made Jesus Christ his research lab’s Director, while he himself took the post of a deputy director. Throughout his career, Fomum credited his outstanding success in the field of science to the revelational relationship with Jesus. In the period of over 40 years that he was involved with the Christian ministry, Fomum undertook traveling to a great extent. He was mainly involved in planting churches, training leaders of spirituality, and preaching the Gospel. There were more than 700 missionary trips undertaken by him inside Cameroon alone. They ranged from one-day journeys to three-week travels. Fomum had also visited close to 70 countries in different continents over 500 times. Such trips were limited to a maximum of 6 weeks.

The churches planted by Fomum are spread across Europe, Oceania, America, and Asia. During his travels, Fomum had witnessed over ten thousand recorded events of miraculous healings. These events included curing the believer of Jesus Christ of blindness, headaches, deafness, cancer, paralysis, HIV, dumbness, AIDS, madness, etc. Fomum was also an avid reader, having read over 1350 books based on Christian faith. The books penned by him helped to spread the teachings of Jesus Christ and are now available in twelve different languages. Fomum often sought God in his prayers. He used to spend a minimum of 15 minutes and a maximum of 6 hours every day to talk to God. During these events, he used to meditate, listen, pray, and speak God’s word.

Author Fomum believed that the best way to seek God is through prayers. So, he often requested people to spend as much time as possible in remembering God and asking for his blessing. Fomum kept a record of what he asked for God in his prayers and had more than 50,000 instances where his prayers were answered. This proved that his faith in God was deep. Despite being very popular for his work, Fomum lived a simple life. He refused to live in luxury and spent most of his funds on evangelical work and building churches. Fomum was married to a woman named Prisca Zei Fomum and had 7 children with her. They all are now carrying forward his work and keeping his legacy alive.

A popular book penned by author Zacharias Tanee Fomum is entitled ‘Inner Healing’. It was released in 2013 by Edition du livre Chretien publication. Fomum opens this book by saying that there are many physically sick people in the world. Some of them suffer from diseases that can be seen from naked eyes, while some have hidden diseases inside that cannot be seen. And these require healing just like the outside ones and the only way that is possible is through Jesus Christ. Fomum continues to say that some people’s sicknesses are much deeper than they seem. Such people are mostly crippled by bitterness, fear, jealousy, etc. Psychologists around the world are constantly working to provide relief from these sicknesses, but real healing can be sought only in Lord Jesus. Fomum considers Him to be the right answer to all the questions people have in their minds. Jesus Christ’s death, subsequent resurrection, and final enthronement are what He has provided for man’s total healing.

Fomum wants the believers to co-operate with Jesus and put their faith in Him. And just like the Lord, sometimes people must also walk the difficult path and face struggle to finally achieve inner healing in the end. Another excellent book that Fomum wrote in his career is called ‘Personal Spiritual Revival’. It was published by ZTF Books in 2014. In this book, Fomum talks about how some followers of Jesus have backslid. A few of them have turned the other way completely, while many others have backslid to only some extent. It is true that many people feel they have lost the love that they first had, but they are not ready to seek radical steps for putting things right. Even if they want to repent, they don’t want to pay the price for it. Fomum wants those people to go through this book who have the hunger to return to Jesus and seek spiritual revival.
