Victoria H. Smith
Victoria H. Smith has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. It is something she puts to good use while writing romance all day. She lives in the Midwest with her Macbook always on her lap and a cornfield to the right. Victoria typically draws inspiration for her work from her life experiences, and her characters that she writes typically give her an earful all about it.
During her free time, she enjoys watching Scandal, extreme couponing, reading, and typical geekery in the form of DC Comics and Sherlock.
“The Space Between” flowed super well for her, as she wrote the first draft in just a little over a week. Her original plans for the novel stayed pretty consistent throughout the entire process, however while she was drafting she originally had Drake meet Lacey at some costume party. He sees her acting on stage in full costume and fell for her sight unseen since she wore a mask. She’s not sure why she wound up changing it but it worked out pretty well in the end.
Only thing she wanted to touch on more was Drake’s adoption. It’s something she wanted so much that “The Dividing Line” and its novella were born, as “The Space Between” was a stand alone originally.
Each book that Victoria writes has got its own soundtrack. She likes listening to music as she writes sometimes. At other times she’ll use songs only to inspire. “Unpretty” by TLC was her main song to represent Roxie in “Found By You”. It’s a place that we have all been in, she feels, and it was just a perfect song for Roxie. For Drake and Lacey, the song “The Space Between” by Dave Matthews Band, which was also the inspiration for the book’s title, was their perfect song too. Victoria thinks about them every single time that she hears that song.
She feels like there is a song for each and every single character in her books. Like their anthem and it is a ton of fun finding that one perfect song which defines them. She creates these playlists for her books on Spotify.
She is a big fan of Raven’s work and enjoyed working with her so much. They got to talking and a joint project made a ton of sense. Their styles are quite similar so working together really worked for them. What Victoria loved most was having somebody to bounce her ideas off of. They never got stuck since there were two brains to work through each problem, which was great.
She is the 2014 winner of a Swirl Award for Best New Adult Romance, and received a AMB Ovation Award for “Found By You”, her new adult romance.
“The Space Between” is the first novel in the “Space” series and was released in 2013. Only his intentions for being out on her side of town end up being the reason he cannot.

His bright light at every day’s end is Lacey, yet finds he’s slowly falling into her new acquired fame’s shadow.
