Rick Riordan is an American author of fiction. He was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1964.

He is perhaps most well known for being the author of the Percy Jackson series. There have been several movies made based off these books, starting with The Lightning Thief in 2010 and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters in 2013. Percy Jackson and the Titan’s Curse will be the third movie based off a book in the series.

However, Riordan says that once he sold the rights to the Disney Book Group, he realized that he could not maintain his job teaching full time and write at the pace that he needed to as he would be required to write one book for adults and another for children a year. Reluctantly, he gave up his job working as a teacher to focus on writing.

Rick is not just known for his novels for kids, but also for his work writing for the adult reader too! His mystery novels have even won him a few awards. However, he is really well known for his Olympians series too to both kids, young adults, and adult fans of the series!

Rick says that the idea for the book came to mind when he was in San Francisco, teaching middle school kids about Greek mythology. Just like that, the Lightning Thief and the idea for Camp Half Blood were born. Riordan started writing the story down and history was made. Some believe that in order to help keep the secret and avoid startling the mass population, Riordan took an oath to present the writings of the stories of Percy Jackson and friends and the camp as fictional in nature.

The author says that the rumors that the camp exists may just be true, and he is simply there recording what happens with the young demigods there during his summers. No one can know for sure. Riordan currently resides in Texas, the Lone Star state, with his two sons and his wife. He hangs out with them when he isn’t busy writing his next big upcoming book!

Rick Riordan is the author of the Trials of Apollo series. This series is similar to the Percy Jackson series in that it concerns immortals and the gods– names that you might know like Apollo and Zeus. This fictional series kicked off in 2016 with the publication of the debut novel, The Hidden Oracle. It was quickly followed by the sequel, The Dark Prophecy. The third book in the series, titled The Burning Maze, came out in 2018.

The Hidden Oracle is the first novel in the Trials of Apollo series by author Rick Riordan. What do you do when you want to punish an immortal really well? That’s an easy one. You go ahead and do whatever you can in order to make them human instead of a god. Nothing smarts like being stuck in mortality.

Zeus has been angered by his son, the god known as Apollo. As a result, the father god has cast him out of Olympus and down to the regular world where the men and women walk and live and die– they don’t live for centuries in Mount Olympus like the gods at all.

Apollo is confused and weak when he winds up in New York City. He’s not even an adult, either– he’s been put down onto the mortal plane as a teenage boy. He’s somewhere between kid and a grown man, and of course along with this transformation comes a complete loss of the powers that he once easily wielded as a deity.

He’s four thousand years old, and yet now Apollo can’t walk into a liquor store without getting carded. The modern world is nothing like what he is used to either– and he’s got to learn how to adapt and blend in with these humans of the modern age until he can get through to Zeus and get him to change his mind about his punishment.

Apollo’s biggest problem may be his feud with Zeus, but that’s not the only issue he’s facing it. There are many monsters and gods and even humans that would relish the chance to destroy him– and pay good money to see it done.

Now Apollo is truly in need of some assistance in order to survive in this world. Being a human being is just as tough as he thought it would be– how do they do it?

When he hears of a strange camp named Camp Half-Blood, it seems like the only place that might be willing to help him. It’s said that there are demigods that live there and they may be able to help Apollo out. But will they agree to help him at all? Read the scintillating first book in the Trials of Apollo series by Rick Riordan to find out!

However, these are harrowing challenges even for the most-equipped. The American Midwest contains a haunted cave that might just have the key to Apollo becoming immortal again.

Apollo is also facing opposition on his quest. A Roman emperor, one of three evil Triumvirate members, This is a formidable threat as the emperor enjoys a great spectacle of violence whenever he gets the opportunity to see one, and he’s seeking one out when it comes to Apollo.

He’ll need the help of some allies to complete the second trial and his enemies too. With a dragon, a formerly immortal goddess, and demigods on his side, Apollo just might have a shot at emerging victorious. Can he prevail? Pick up The Dark Prophecy by Rick Riordan to find out.
