The “Dragon Kings Chronicles” series is a set of young paranormal and urban romance fantasy serials. The novels share their settings with the “Dragon Kings” series, which was set in Europe.
The premise of the series is that there lives a Dragon Queen in Europe, who has the enviable task of hiding dragons who may be in danger in the human world.
But the Queen lives a life of isolation and seems to have lost touch with the outside world and does not know what is happening with her dragons. This has resulted in some of the dragons feeling a sense of unease towards the queen.

Combining interactions with humans and several dragon characters, the short length adventures make for a gripping series of stories.

Kimberly Loth’s first novel of the “Dragon Kings Chronicles” series “Obsidian,” introduces a dragon named Obsidian. All he ever wanted was to coast through life with his dragon girlfriend Skye.

He is one of several dragons that is in line to one day become the dragon king. He was not interested in it and hence he was sent to live with humans for a decade to learn and read. He had been postponing this for years until he found himself appearing as a black dragon rather than a golden one.
The problem is the only dragon allowed to be black is the king. He now appears as a human bearing the name Sid working with one of his brothers. He has to remain in human form and resist any attempts at bonding with humans or else he would die.

On the other hand is Aspen, a lover of dragons and nature junky who sees a black dragon and is captivated. While looking at the dragon she felt a sting on her ankle and thought she had been bitten by a snake. Looking down she sees a tattoo that has appeared seemingly from nowhere.

The second novel of the “Dragon Kings Chronicles” series “Aspen,” opens to Pearl who is the sister to Sid deciding that she should not be together with Aspen. This is because it would result in the death of the Dragon King.

Sid believed that the deaths would be a thing of the past once Marcellus was dead but she could not have been more wrong. She is feeling the pain of losing her loved one and as such sets off trying to save his own life and get revenge for the death of his loved ones.

But the closer he gets to finding answers, the more dangerous things become not only for her but only for his friends and family. He is the only one with the power to stop the killer even though doing so might just cost him his most prized possession.

Kimberly Loth’s novel “Valentine” which is the third of the “Dragon Kings Chronicles” series of novels sees Hazel world upended, following the disappearance of her brother Rowan. Most people believe he was devoured by a dragon except for her sister Aspen.

Apparently, she is the only one that has never heard of the dragon prophecy even though she is very much aware of the existence of dragons. But the more she learns about their family connection to the dragons, the less Hazel wishes she did not seek out that information.

On the other hand a centuries old prophecy is beginning to come true for Valentine even though never wanted to become king and never even thought it was a possibility. He embarks on his quest training with Obsidian and during this time, he gets to learn secrets from his past that could destroy everything in his life.

Heading to the mainland from Hawaii, Val and Hazel’s worlds collide and they soon have to work with each other to prevent the breakout of war between dragons and humans and find Rowan.
