Tarkers Hollow Mystery is a series of novels by USA Today bestselling author of paranormal, romance and fantasy novels Tasha Black. She resides in a big old Victorian in a small college town. She fancies reading anything she can get hands-on, sipping pumpkin spice lattes and making up stories. Black has authored over six-book series including Curse of the Alpha, Fate of the Alpha, 300 Moons, Building a Hero and Tarkers Hollow Mystery series.
Tasha Black began the publication of Tarker’s Hollow Mystery series in 2015 when Ghost of Shifters Past was published and released two more books the same year.
Ghost of Shifters Past
Ghost of Shifters Past the first book in Tarker’s Hollow Mystery is a sweet fast-paced novella. The novel introduces the reader to Bonnie Summers who’s moved to the small town of Tarker’s Hollow and still finding it hard to adjust to the city life where shifters and human coexist.
Miss Summers feels alone and isolated even though the Tarkers Hollow pack has accepted and even welcomed her into their pack. It’s not long before a spirit from the local town’s past presents itself to Bonnie- and she resolves to do whatever it takes to solve the mystery of the supernatural being that has awakened a burning passion within her. Will Bonnie Summers finally find the true love she has so desperately waited for?
Tasha Black has done a fantastic job of creating a world of wonder and magic for her readers. Her main character, Bonnie Summers is not only smart, but she is also charming and romantic as well. The author’s vivid description of the small town where human and shifters coexist peacefully grabs the reader’s attention right from the first page and takes them to a place of enchantment and marvel. The story features some beautiful Native American magic, tales, and history. Could miss Summers be communicating with her long-lost band?
The Talented Mr. MacGregor
The second in Tarkers Hollow Mystery introduces us to the JD MacGregor, a mild-mannered alpha who is every schoolgirl crush. All the alpha wants is to stay out of trouble as long as he can until the new alpha is selected. Unfortunately for him, things heat up when MacGregor ends up searching for clues at a dinner party where all the guests are not as innocent as they seem.
If you have read the fated and cursed series, you will love the dive Tasha Black takes to the same world. We meet MacGregor as he fights the pull to the moon and its lousy time for him as he has to step up as a temporary alpha since Ainsley’s parents (Mr. Conner and his wife) have died.
MacGregor is a likable character even though he didn’t want to be Alpha. The story explains the reason why he didn’t want to be the alpha in more details, and through this explanation, you get to see him battle against the moon pull now ten times worse as he is the alpha.
There isn’t a woman in the small town who doesn’t dream herself over MacGregor, and he gets a hard time trying to resist them all until he gets an invitation to a Cluedo-dinner when things don’t turn out as he expected.
The Clockwork Dragon
In the third book in the Tarkers Hollow Mystery series, we meet Marie a young woman having the most vivid dreams of her golden-eyed Prince. In her dreams, the prince would sing her a beautiful song, and the two would dance together. She doesn’t like waking up from her slumber because the prince wasn’t there but the memories of him would warm her. It was the holidays, and because her family was loyal, she had to choose someone like her husband.
On the other hand, her parents wanted Marie to marry Thaddeus Ratcliffe because they thought the two would make a perfect couple and they could still be a royal couple and that Thaddeus might help her bring her magic out.
Then came a young man named Harry Dross- Marrie saw him- the perfect resemblance of her dream prince. The rest of the story is full of more dreams and reality, hiding for passion hiding from the enemy and ballroom singing.
The Clockwork Dragon is a remarkable story with fascinating and engaging character, superb banter, picturesque scene descriptions, excellent storyline, gripping suspense, life-threatening incident, magic, sensual romance, horrific danger, action, mystery and a conclusion that will melt your heart and leave you wanting more.
Tasha Black does not disappoint in giving her readers what they want- a story that will hook you from the first page to the last. The characters in the story, (both main and supporting cast) spring to life with fabulous dialogue and breathtaking scene descriptions. The romance between Marie and the prince in her dreams sizzles with unwavering devotion and passion.
Hounded
Dulcie is a real estate agent and with paranormal abilities living in the small town of Woodland Creek. In this small town, there are two kinds of people- people who know the existence of shifters and those who don’t. The charming bad boy Van is said to be the local towns bad boy, and while he is quite charming and attractive, Dulcie is unwavering she won’t go there.
Like everyone else in the town, Van has his past, and he can do nothing to undo that past. However, he has set his eyes and mind on Dulcie only if the beautiful girl would give him a chance to prove that she means the world to him. However, as soon as Dulcie gives Van the chance to spark a relationship, they find themselves dragged into a little but complex mystery.
Van and Dulcie’s romance is rocky, with plenty of enemies, problems and lots of steam. The author has shown us her versatility through her eclectic writing. While it’s the fourth in the series, Hounded can be read as a standalone novel perfect for anyone looking for a paranormal romance that’s not so long read.
