About Sonia Parin
An Australian author of cozy mysteries and paranormal novels, Sonia Parin is an expert in keeping her readers guessing until the final page. Really taking her audience on a journey, she takes the format in new and interesting directions, making her a fresh voice within the industry. Allowing her work and writing to speak for itself essentially, she understands perfectly her craft both inside as well as out. Immersing her readers in her writing too, she holds them there and really doesn’t let go until the epic conclusion, as each book is highly accessible.
Her books have proven to be hugely successful around the world, securing Parin’s place as a permanent fixture on the bookshelves of many. Each of her stories creates a rich and evocative atmosphere that’s massively inviting, making her books more than compelling. Easy to pick up, yet even more difficult to put down, readers find themselves constantly turning the page for more. Not only is she successful with general readers, but she’s also appealed to her many peers and contemporaries alike, with her many positive reviews.
Largely focusing on cozy mystery, she sets many of them in Australia as well, as they’re all extremely well established. Her characters are also emblematic of her skills as an author, really letting her work speak for itself when it comes to providing intricate mysteries. Everyone is fully fleshed out, as she populates all of her books with three-dimensional personalties that come alive on the page. With a lot more to come, she has plenty of further titles planned upon the horizon for publication in the near future.
Early and Personal Life
Developing her craft from an early age, reading and writing was something that always keenly interested Sonia Parin. Over time she would work on her craft, allowing her to essentially find her own voice, really giving her work and writing its own unique approach. Extending this passion to her love of the mystery genre, she would, in time, become a highly adept writer of mystery novels.
Many of her stories would come to be based in Victoria, Australia, a location, which she herself would know well. Drawing a lot of her inspiration from her own life, she would constantly be putting her own experiences back into her work. Currently living in Melbourne, she has a lot more to say yet, with more mysteries and series to follow, while constantly looking for her next big idea.
Writing Career
It was back in 2015 that Sonia Parin would write her first novel, beginning her literary career with the title ‘Her Charming Heartbreaker.’ This cozy mystery would set the template for much of what was to come, as well as starting her much loved ‘Town Named Eden’ series. Other mystery series would also follow, including ‘Deadline Cozy Mystery’ and ‘Mackenzie Coven Mystery,’ as sometimes she would also infuse an element of the paranormal into her stories.
Each of her books would set out to be ‘clean,’ ensuring her writing was suitable for all, making them easy, light-hearted reads. Over time this has proves to be enormously successful, as she has reached the top of the USA Today Bestseller list, securing her status as a popular international writer. Maintaining a presence both offline and on, she continues writing on a consistent basis, with more still to come.
Sleeping With the Fishes
First published in 2017 on the 2nd of April, this would come out through the ‘Cozy Corner’ publishing imprint to much acclaim. Setting up the sixth book in the ongoing ‘Deadline Cozy Mystery’ series of novels, it would continue on from the previous books with a stand-alone title. The series itself is a collection of cozy mysteries following the character of Eve Lloyd, with many of the stories taking place on Rock-Maine Island.
Set aboard a cruise, Eve is with her aunt Mira, and she’s attempting to make the most of it, all while suffering from separation anxiety. Using her own personal inducements, she seems content, that is until someone goes overboard, and she realizes that there may be a killer in their midst. Determined to get to the bottom of the case, she will do whatever it takes to find the truth, all despite the captain protesting otherwise. Can she discover the truth behind it all, where will their journey take them next, and why is the victim now sleeping with the fishes?
The series itself doesn’t need to be read in any particular order, as each book can potentially be read on its own. Following on from each other, they’re all self-contained mysteries featuring Eve Lloyd, along with her aunt Mira, as she uncovers different mysteries. It’s a fun and easy series to get into, making it a definite must for fans not just the author, but also of the genre as a whole.
The Last Dance
Initially released in 2018 on the 27th of September, this would first be published on the Kindle publishing platform. Marking the fifth title in the ongoing ‘Dear Abby Cozy Mystery’ series, it would carry on from the prior books with another self-contained mystery. Taking place in Eden Rise, this series follows Abby Maguire as its leading protagonist, as she solves various different mysteries while working for the ‘Eden Rise Gazette’ there.
With Charles Granger’s Venetian Ball soon to be underway, Abby finds herself gate-crashing the event after not receiving an invite. Soon she starts to suspect the reasons behind her being the only one not invited, as a prominent guest at the party is murdered. Working together with Faith, the two of them establish a crime-board at the mansion of Charles Granger, as they attempt to get to the bottom of the case. Will they discover the truth behind it all, can Detective Joshua Ryan help solve the case, and who is going to have the last dance finally?
Once again showcasing what Sonia Parin does best, this is another excellent example of the cozy mystery genre in action. The books itself can also be read as a stand-alone, as the series can be read in order, although there’s plenty for returning fans to enjoy as well. Making the most of its fantastic premise and setting, it really has a lot to offer when it comes to providing an entertaining story with compelling characters.
