Double Whammy is the debut novel in the Skink series by Carl Hiaasen. The main character in this book in R.J. Decker. He is someone that likes to do his job but doesn’t want to be working the job all of the time. He lives in a local trailer park and considers himself the star tenant there. It’s a simple life, but sometimes when you try to go for something more grand you really don’t come up with a lot.

When R.J. is not busy living at the trailer park, he’s busy trying to work on his private eye business. He may be new to being a private eye, but R.J. thinks that he is able to track down killers and bad people just like anyone else. What’s so different about them compared to him?

Now R.J. has a new lead and is suddenly on the hunt for a killer. Things have gotten out of hand ever since a body was found floating in Florida’s Coon Bog. The sportsman’s scam that wasn’t that sportsmanlike ended up claiming a life that night. But that bog holds more secrets that relate to this body than anyone may be ready for.

There are plenty of bass tournaments in the area that have high stakes but bad seeds scattered throughout. Decker is game to join forces with a hermit that is partially crazy and partially blind too. All in the name of trying to get him to channel his taste for road kill to good use.

Decker may just come face to face with the old wife right in the middle of being in bed along with her husband. It’s all fair game in his quest to get ahead, but this guy might just have more opposition than he originally bargained for.

Now R.J. Decker is up against all sorts of enemies that seem to have materialized out of the books and into his life. They say it’s all cliches for a reason, but this time it really all is like something out of a James Bond movie.

R.J. is faced with a difficult choice to make; he can either turn to the TV evangelists or fight them. Given how these evangelists are coming after him and the way that sexy women are trying to hit on him, the other side already has plans in motion. But who knows who out of them all will wait? Is it the seductive women, the red head with a pistol and a pit bull, or something else? Something that he has been searching for his entire life?

Love is tough, and so is being on the run. R.J. is doing his best to track down whoever killed the victim and trying everything that he can in order to find something that will take him to the killer. Any type of clue will do, but with the stakes getting higher and higher than he is comfortable with, he’s got to find out something in order to lock it all down before it’s too late.

Can R.J. find the killer and solve this case? It’s certainly going to be a case of R.J. doing his very best in order to try and catch the murderer. No one’s going to get away with it while he’s around! What is going to happen in the end? You have simply got to pick up

The action never stops, and this time is no exception. There are always people that are going to try and hijack you if you have valuable cargo. The Amazing Kingdom of Thrills has seen a burglary– someone has taken the blue-tongued mango voles at North Key Largo.

But why would thugs be after something living like that instead of jewellery? What is the end game on that? The voles are definitely gone and now they are still out there somewhere. Joe Winder catches wind of this and takes on the case himself.

Now he is determined to find out why the thugs took the things in the first place. Can he find out where the voles are and what this person is doing with them? Are they going to keep them or sell them in the end?

Now they are going to be pulled into a series of adventurous but unfortunate events that may just lead in catching a kidnapper of the voles. Winder must fill in and go through a wake of weird/fatal events that go out on here. If you want to find out what happens in the end for yourself before it is too late!
