Shannon McKenna is a USA Today and New York Times bestselling author of more than twenty turbo charged and action packed romantic novels. She published her debut novel “Behind Closed Doors,” the debut novel in the “McCloud Brothers” series of novels in 2002.
Since then, she has written more than two dozen novels in the “McCloud Brothers,” “Men of Maddox Hill,” “Obsidian Files,” and “Hellbound Brotherhood” series of novels.
Ever since she was a child, she has loved the magic of a good book and always had fantasies of abandoning herself in the setting of a book. It is from this that she started thinking of becoming an author.
But while she always thought writing would be a lot of fun, she has found that it is much easier than what she initially believed.
In her novels, McKenna has made a name for herself writing about heroic and tough alpha males and heroines with the guts and brains to match them. This is what makes for blazing sensuality and redemptive love combined with much adventure.
Following her graduation from Yale with a bachelor’s degree in English, Shannon McKenna worked as a temp in several corporate offices in New York City.
During this time, she performed renaissance and medieval music with several ensembles. She also sang at cabaret, church gigs, funerals and weddings including Christmas Carols at a shopping mall.
While she has now become a bestselling author of romantic suspense novels, she still looks back to the time when she made a living singing.
Even though McKenna started writing romance novels to further her music career, writing was something she always wanted to do besides singing. However, she just could not find the time to do it until she moved to Italy.
Suddenly she had a lot of time on her hands and started writing short contemporary fiction since Silhouette and Harlequin were taking in unagented new authors.
Shannon McKenna began writing her first novel while still living in New York and working temp jobs. Since she could have been fired had she been found writing her novel at work, she used to have two screens on her workstation with one with a fierce looking spreadsheet and the other with her manuscript.
Whenever the boss walked past her, she would usually switch to the work screen and go back to writing when he was gone. While every little crumb of time helped, she also learned that she needed more than just stolen crumbs of attention and time to write something substantial.
When she finally quit her temping jobs and moved to Italy, she finally had all the time in the world and in no time at all, she finished her manuscript which she sold to Kensington. Once she published “Behind Closed Doors,” she was off to the races and has never looked back since.
“Behind Closed Doors” by Shannon McKenna is an interesting romance that tells the story of Raine and Seth Mackey. Seth is a surveillance expert who is up to date on every woman his millionaire boss has dated and dumped.
But Raine Cameron is not like any other woman he has seen with his boss. Watching her on the different video screens at his station, he is haunted by her fresh innocence and vulnerable beauty that stirs in him a white hot passion.
She is quite a temptation but first he needs to avenge his brother who he believes was killed by Victor Lazar, his boss. He craves her badly but he cannot risk his investigation, even as he fears Raine may just become Lazar’s next victim.
Meanwhile, Raine has discovered that someone has been watching her but is confident that whoever it is cannot see into her heart. She is also on a quest for revenge against Victor even though Seth is proving a major distraction.
While she is not so experienced with men, she finds Seth very handsome and masculine that he stirs her deepest erotic fantasies.
Shannon McKenna’s novel “Standing in the Shadows” tells the story of Erin and Connor McCLoud. The latter is a former ex FBI agent who still remembers the day that he almost died at the hands of Ed Riggs, a fellow agent and trusted friend.
Connor is a man with force loyalty and a commitment to hard justice and this may just have caused him Erin, the studious and shy daughter to Ed that he had always craved. He may have lost her forever but her beauty still torments and haunts his days and nights.
But then Kurt Novak, his old nemesis reappears in the scene and he knows that he has to do everything in his power to protect a woman whose life is threatened.
Meanwhile, Erin has been fantasizing about McCloud for years, even though things had changed ever since he testified to send her father to prison. Her world has been falling apart since then, and she does not know what to do to stop the disintegration.
However, when Connor appears at her door and tells her that there is someone after her life, she has no choice but to allow him to be her protection. He swears to guard her with his own life but it is not long before the fiery sexualituy and long buried feelings are reawakened by his fierce protectiveness.
“Out of Control” by Shannon McKenna sees private investigator David McCloud disillusioned. He has learned that following blind impulse might not be the best way when pursuing women.
He now intends to live an uncomplicated, calm and simple life even though all of that goes out the door when Margot Vetter starts teaching a gym class down the block. The mysterious and luscious woman is stirring a fierce protectiveness and hunger he cannot explain.
Still, he has learned that she is hiding some deadly and very ugly secrets but cannot stop obsessing about her. Meanwhile, Vetter is in a bad place as she has been framed in a homicide and forced to flee without any money. But in her new surroundings she finds herself targeted by a persistent stalker.
The only person she trusts is the scarily gorgeous and buff David McCloud. She believes he is the sort of man that could never be intimidated. But he has his own questions he wants to ask and the closer they get, the more she discovers that she cannot get away from the sensual and enigmatic man.
