Richard Prosch
Richard Prosch grew up tending cattle, planting corn, and riding around the Nebraska range in a beat-up pickup truck and a 1974 Camaro. He worked as a professional artist, teacher, and writer in Wyoming, Missouri, and South Carolina, as he amasses huge collections of paperback fiction, MEGO action figures, vintage vinyl, and comic books.
Along with Gina, his wife, he created “Comics and Emma Davenport,” a strip that ran in the Comics Buyers Guide newspaper and spawned a total of ten issues of Emma’s own comic book. The pair continued each of their creative endeavors, working with the Hallmark Channel and Tribune Media Services, and developing licensing style guides for several cartoon properties.
In the 2000s, Richard built a web development studio and won awards for writing and illustration (which includes a Spur Award from the Western Writers of America).
Richard’s work has also appeared in numerous anthologies like Roundup, True West, and Saddlebag Dispatches magazines, and online at Boys’ Life.
Richard’s crime fiction captures the fleeting history and the lonely frontier stories about his youth where characters are not always what they appear, and the windburned landscapes are filled with lethal and swift danger.
His crime tales are equally rooted in place with police procedurals in Nebraska, Meadows Ford, or dark thrillers such as the Dan Spalding novels, set in the core of the Ozarks.
His Peregrine tales follow the trials about John, a wandering man from the 1870s, as the Holt County stories are rooted in Deputy Whit Branham’s historic Nebraska.
“Devil You Know” is the third novel in the “Peregrine” series and was released in the year 2015. When John Coburn hired on at Jim Bullock’s Ruby Thicket ranch, but he didn’t anticipate trouble. Coburn knew that his old saddle pard had a temper, knew that Bullock was in competition with a neighboring ranch, however the thing he didn’t know was the true reason Buillock hired him. When the killing begins, Coburn does not know who is doing it, or why. Neither does anyone else.
Logan pulled his gun out and aimed it at Coburn. Told him to drop his gun, slowly. Baylor took his gun, and Coburn clenched his jaw, figuring what would come next. Logan pulled the trigger and sent a bullet flying toward Coburn.
“Roping a Planet” is the third novel in the “Jo Harper” series and was released in the year 2014. During the autumn in 1910, Jo Harper (twelve year old deputy constable) is making the most of a warm Indian Summer until a lethal mystery brings a winter chill to this season. When Abby Drake, chief badge toter, calls on Jo to help promote the film career of Jupiter, a gigantic prize-winning horse, neither of Willowby, Wyoming’s top law and order ladies expect the storm of flaming arrows and fire that follows.
And since so many other things are straying off of the trail, from one potential new boyfriend to keeping up an autograph book, from the unrelenting progress of twentieth century tech to one perpetually absent dad to, how is Jo going to rope up her destiny and tie down her most dangerous adventure all at the same time?
“The Flight of Lydia Grimm” is the ninth novel in the “Jo Harper” series and was released in the year 2017. Jo Harper and Frog Beemer, her sidekick, are on their way to the film in small-town Willowby, Wyoming. Gorgeous Hollywood heroine and high-flying Lydia Grimm, is Jo’s role model. The one and only thing that is able to stop Frog and Jo from sitting through it one more time is the real thing, wings aflame, right over their heads.
Fantasy becomes a fiery reality on the Wyoming range while a burning airplane falls out of the sky, and Frog and Jo grab their horses and ride right to scene of the disaster to help. However when Frog goes back to Willowby for help, Jo’s held at gunpoint by the German pilot that survived the crash.
All bets are off when Jo learns that her captor’s involved with the very star she idolizes, Lydia Grimm! Lydia’s in danger, however it is up to Jo to find out why, and she is determined to get to the bottom of this lethal mystery. Is Frog going to return with help in time to save Jo? Could Jo unravel this mystery that she is caught up in? With a madman on the loose, Jo’s got no choice but to join in The Flight of Lydia Grimm.

Join Dan while he calls his markers in and picks his guns up for a bloody and dark showdown that’s going to change the future of Ozark City and rip Dan’s world apart forever.
