Ramona Flightner is a historical fiction and romance author from Missoula Montana.
She got her bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Tufts University before she proceeded to the University of Montana, where she got her Spanish Literature master’s degree.
She wrote her thesis on the collective suffering of one community, which showcased her continuing interest in the stories of people at risk of being silenced or forgotten. Flightner would later on go to the University of Pennsylvania to study for a nursing degree.
She would then become a family nurse practitioner working with the underinsured and the poor. She did this work for more than a decade in Boston, Massachusetts, and Wilmington, Delaware.
Flightner is an avid hiker and flyfisher whose idea of fun is to go to a remote Montana river for a day. She loves to tell stories, travel and research her bestselling titles, discover new ways of looking at the world, and learn about new cultures.
She dreams of one day marveling at the wonders of Petra, soaking in the South Pacific seas, and getting to see the East African plains.
While she currently makes her home in Boston, she remains a Montanan at heart.
Growing up, Ramona Flightner always loved reading and could always be found writing things in her journal.
From a very young age, she always dreamed of becoming an author. When she grew older she started thinking that it was just a dream that would never come true. But in 2010 she gave up writing as a career and decided to write for herself.
Soon she told all her friends and family and this is when she knew she wanted it to be more than a dream.
As quite an avid reader, she has read all manner of books even though there is one that had a significant impact on her later future as an author. This work was “Elegance of the Hedgehog,” which would instantly become her favorite.
She loved the book so much that she still keeps it on her shelf. Ramona found the writing brilliant and loved the characters. It is from this work that she decided she wanted to write just for herself, which would kickstart her professional career as an author.
During this time, Ramona Flightner was working as a family nursing practitioner but believed that she wanted more. It was while she was fishing in Montana that she got an idea for what she believed was a brilliant story.
She would go on to plot and write part of it while she was traveling back home to Boston. After doing a lot of research and writing, she was confident about getting published in the traditional way.
But she would get very little interest from agents after one and a half years of writing and research. This was when she decided to pivot and learn all about self-publishing.
This was in 2013 and there were not that many resources on how to become a self-published author. However, she buckled down and absorbed everything she could.
She made all manner of mistakes and finally published “Banished Love” her debut novel in 2014. She now has more than three dozen titles to her name and is showing no sign of slowing down any time soon.
“Montana Untamed” by Ramona Flightner is a beautiful story of Annabelle Evans. The story is set in 1884 in Bear Grass Springs in Montana.
Evans has arrived in Montana Territory hoping that she can finally be reunited with her long-estranged sister. Her sister is getting married to Cailean MacKinnon but Annabelle is shocked when she hears him say I am not marrying a whore.
To help her sister recover from a damaged relationship, she sets up her own business to help her sister make it in life without needing a husband.
Cailean Mackinnon had vowed that he would never get married more than a decade ago when he had left Scotland. He has made a fortune running a livery business in the Americas and all he wants is to focus on his business and take care of his siblings.
But he cannot help but be fascinated by the determined resourcefulness of Anabelle. She in turn is turned on by the virile, strong, and loyal Scot.
When he kisses her in public their mutual attraction soon goes public. But will their love survive given Cailean’s closed-off heart and Anabelle’s independent spirit?
Ramona Flightner’s novel “Montana Grit” is the story of Leticia Browne, a schoolteacher that had fled her past and settled in Bear Grass Springs. She never imagined she would ever fall for Alistair MacKinnon the charming liveryman.
All she wanted was the small town to be her refuge, where she could find peace and survival. and marriage and love were the last things on her mind.
But if there is one thing Alistair MacKinnon has it is patience. He also has a reputation for being quick to forgive and slow to anger. He patiently waits for three years and finally, he has his dream in sight as he will be marrying Leticia in a few days.
But when the church door bursts open during the wedding, he is crushed as he acknowledges that appearances can be deceiving. He must now live with the ridicule of the town and face up to his worst fears.
Battling Leticia’s treachery and despair, he fends off Leticia’s desperate pleadings. She has become a shunned woman that will need all her wits to survive.
Will Alistair take her back or will he decide to move on with his life and leave the love of his life behind?
“Montana Maverick” by Ramona Flightner is the story of Jessamine McMahon the newest resident in Bear Grass Springs.
She is looking to make it big as a reporter and has to learn how to peddle local gossip and news, as well as the hard-hitting pieces.
In turn, repelled and fascinated by Ewan MacKinnon, Jessamine pens frequent articles about the man that she refers to as the most disreputable man in town.
Ewan MacKinnon is a successful builder that is living a charmed life and spends most of his evenings in the fine establishments and saloons in town. He has never been interested in getting married or falling in love.
However, he is intrigued by Jessamibne who has a determination and fiery spirit unlike any other woman in the city.
Learning to read between the lines of the articles she writes and his poker face, they have one of the most unconventional courtships.
