Nelson DeMille is an American author of fiction. He was born on August 23, 1943 in New York City. He is known for writing fictional novels in the genre of action-adventure as well as suspense. His novel The General’s Daughter was turned into a 1999 movie starring John Travolta and Madeleine Stowe. His novel Word of Honor was made into a t.v. movie, as was his novel Mayday in 2005.

His family moved to Long Island when he was young. Nelson attended and graduated from Elmont Memorial High School, where he played football and track. He attended Hofstra University for three years and then decided to join the Army. going to Officer Candidate School.

From 1966 to 1969 served as a Lieutenant in the Army. He was an infantry platoon leader in Vietnam for the First Cavalry Division and earned several decorations. After being discharged, he returned to his studies at university once more in the fields of History and Political Science. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree in both.

In addition to writing under his full name of Nelson DeMille, he was written under other pen names. Demille has written novels under the pseudonyms of Kurt Ladner, Jack Cannon, Ellen Kay, and Brad Matthews. His first novel to be published came out in 1978 and is titled By the Rivers of Babylon. The book continues to be in print to this day.

DeMille is married to his wife and they live in Long Island. They have three children together, one girl and two boys. The author actively writers and is a member of The Authors Guild as well as American Mensa. He was also a president at one time for M.W.A., Mystery Writers of America. He was selected in 2015 to be the ThrillerMaster of the Year and belongs to International Thriller Writers, the group that gave him the award. He also holds three honorary doctorates, from Hofstra, Long Island University, and Dowling College.

Nelson DeMille is the author of books such as Word of Honor, The Talbot Odyssey, Cathedral, The Lion, and more. He has collaborated on novels with other authors as well, such as Thomas Block on Mayday. DeMille has also had several of his short stories, book reviews, and articles published.

He is also the originator and writer of the Paul Brenner series of fictional novels. The series kicked off with the release of the first novel, titled The General’s Daughter. It came out in 1992. The sequel is titled Up Country and it was released nine years later. These two books make up the series, which focuses on the adventures of the main character Paul Brenner, an elite investigator with the United States Army who always seems to have a case on his hands to investigate.

Up Country is the second novel in the Paul Brenner series of fiction. Brenner is an investigator with the United States Army. He worked in the Criminal Investigative Division, an interesting job that was tough in the way that it kind of left you with a lot of sleepless nights.
