She’s also known for setting a large number of her books in the Western era, paying close attention to detail in the process. Keeping her readers glued to the page, she makes sure to lend her books a real air of authenticity, as they essentially come alive for the reader. There’s also a lot of heart in each of her stories, as audiences find themselves fully invested in the narrative and where it’s going.
Often including Native American elements and narratives in her books too, Jager is a hugely versatile author. Offering a lot through her work, she provides a fresh perspective to the genre, really taking it in an exciting new direction for readers. Engaging a worldwide audience, she’s become a household name for many, as her work immerses the reader in her rich and inventive worlds. Setting herself apart from other novelists working within her arena, she has something entirely different of her own to say.
Another noteworthy aspect of her work is her use of character, and how she brings each of her protagonists to life. Giving each of them idiosyncratic and unique voices of their own, she allows them to have their own distinctive three-dimensional personality. There’s multiple levels in her writing as well, as it engages the reader in numerous different capacities, making her a household name worldwide. There’s a lot more to come in the future as well, with plenty more books planned for release upon the horizon, continuing into the foreseeable future.
Early and Personal Life
Born and raised on the 28th of June in the United States, Paty Jager would grow up with a keen interest in all things literature. Continuing to develop her interest throughout much of her life, she would come to find her own voice as a writer with something to say. Drawing much of her inspiration not only from fellow authors, she would also find inspiration in her rural living as well.
Using the world around her to help provide many of her big ideas, she would put a lot of it back into her work. Raising alfalfa hay in eastern Oregon with her husband, she spends much of her time outdoors, all the while writing at the same time. Still writing and working to this very day, she focuses on all manner of different genre, with a lot more to come yet.
Writing Career
In 2006 Paty Jager would publish her first novels titled ‘Gambling on an Angel,’ which was a historical romance, and ‘Marshal in Petticoats,’ which begun the ‘Halsey Brothers’ series. She also went on to write other series, including the ‘Spirit Trilogy,’ ‘Halsey Homecoming,’ ‘Isabella Humphrey Adventure,’ and the ‘Shandra Higheagle Mysteries’ to name a few.
Over the course of her literary career Jager has also won a considerable amount of awards as well, along with nominations. Publishing freelance articles for the local paper as well, she’s also a much sought after name, while also working with the County Extension. Releasing several omnibus editions of her work too, along with various collections, she continues to be a name respected by many.
Claiming a Heart
Originally coming out in 2015 on the 21st of July, this would first arrive ‘Windtree Press’ publishing imprint to much acclaim. It’s a Western historical romance, being part of a trilogy, although the romances themselves are entirely self-contained. The third part in the ‘Halsey Homecoming’ series, it manages to build upon the world, while also accepting newcomers to the series.
While hiding out from the law, Callie MacPherson, or Mac, for short, rescues a newcomer after he’s seen being savagely beaten by a brutal gang. Taking the innocent many into the tunnels of Pendleton, she starts to find a warmer side to herself, as she begins to care for him. Not being able to see, Donny Kimball also starts to realize that they may need each other, as they begin to share a deeper bond. Will they overcome their differences and end up together, can Donny convince Mac she’s the one, and what happens when they find themselves claiming a heart?
It’s an enjoyable romance hitting all the right beats, really making for an engaging and entertaining story on ever level. Pushing the romance of the series forwards, there’s also plenty for returning fans and readers too, with it further exploring the world of the Halsey brothers. With its attention to detail of its Western period setting, it makes the most of its premise, from the characters to the setting.
Murderous Secrets
This novel was first released through the ‘Windtree Press’ outlet once again, this time coming out on the 8th of January in 2015. It was the fourth title in the ongoing ‘Shandra Higheagle’ series of novels, continuing on with another mystery for the eponymous potter turned amateur sleuth after having visions. The books themselves are all self-contained, so it’s not essential that they’re read in any particular order, although it does provide ongoing arcs for the characters.
Haunted by her dreams, Shandra Higheagle’s dreams seem to be coming a lot more real for her, with her visions providing insight into her father’s murder. It appears that there’s someone who really doesn’t want her probing any deeper though, while Detective Ryan Greer keeps her informed of the case in hand. With the investigation being decades old at this point, it appears that there’s information that could implicate Shandra’s own mother. Will it impact their relationship though, can they find out what really happened, and just who is behind all the murderous secrets?
With a strong mystical aspect to the mystery series, there’s a lot to this collection of extremely engaging collection of stories. The characters themselves are all well established at this point, so it goes right ahead and jumps into the main narrative of the story. Developing the world and their personalities, it works on multiple levels, making it an ideal read for fans of the author and of the genre overall.
