Patricia Fisher Mystery series by Steve Higgs
Author Steve Higgs writes the “Patricia Fisher Mystery” series. The series began publication in the year 2019, when “The Missing Sapphire of Zangrabar” was released.
The series features no graphic descriptions of violence or sex and there’s no swear words being used.
Patricia Fisher rediscovers herself over the course of the series. She realizes a skill for unraveling mysteries, and from the ashes from her marriage, becomes the phoenix she was always meant to be. Patricia is over fifty years old and overconfident. Each of the mysteries takes place on board a cruise ship called the Aurelia.
Patricia is a much-loved character that came about during one conversation with the receptionist at a firm where the author once worked. Steve, who was asked how he devised his stories, proceeded to outline a character, threw in some event that would throw her into a tailspin, then sent her on a cruise ship and invented a murder.
This idea stewed in his head for over six months. At this point, he just had to stop what he was doing and write her. Now she’s got three separate series of books and a bunch of fantastic reviews.
“The Missing Sapphire of Zangrabar” is the first novel in the “Patricia Fisher Mystery” series and was released in the year 2019. Patricia Fisher gets onboard the worlds best cruise for a three-month tour of the entire world, and expected many things. However getting embroiled in a priceless jewel theft was not one of them.
Just under twenty-four hours after they set sail, she is accused of murder and stuck in her cabin. Thankfully, she’s staying in the royal suite which means she has a butler to aid her. He recruits Barbie, his gym instructor BFF, the trio become detectives to reveal the real killer.
Somebody onboard doesn’t want them to be successful. When the next corpse is discovered in her kitchen, the crew realize that it’s more than her freedom at risk here. They had better solve this one pretty quick or all three of them could be next.
This is a funny cozy mystery series with suspense, humor, and colorful characters. Steve doesn’t just write a character just to pile up bodies, he writes them all to elicit a feeling, either humor, anger, or somebody you wish was in your own roster of friends.
“The Kidnapped Bride” is the second novel in the “Patricia Fisher Mystery” series and was released in the year 2019. Patricia only wants to spend more time in the company of the incredibly handsome captain of the Aurelia, named Alistair Huntley, who appears too happy to host her. Right as the Aurelia sets sail from Miami, it does so with one dangerous addition: there’s a mob boss among these passengers. He’s on the run, from even more mobsters!
Any romantic notions get pushed aside once the mobster’s reluctant-looking bride-to-be vanishes and Patricia’s unexpectedly volunteered to solve the mystery of where she went. There is also a cryptic ransom letter where the missing woman should actually be and a bodyguard is quickly found. With a hole in his head.
Regretting the choice she made to help investigate, it isn’t long before the opposing mob factions take an interest in Patricia’s involvement. Somebody’s got the missing bride, everybody wants her, and everybody thinks Patricia knows where she actually is.
With Jermaine, the ever-faithful butler with her and Barbie (a perfect blonde) to distract the men, Patricia still has to go all out in order to unravel this riddle before anybody ends up dead. Where’s this kidnapped bride anyway?
“The Director’s Cut” is the third novel in the “Patricia Fisher Mystery” series and was released in the year 2019. It is well known that working in film can be cutthroat, however nobody expected this would be taken literally.
It is party time on the Aurealia! On the LA to Hawaii leg, there’s a Hollywood film crew that’s shooting scenes for some new action movie and Barbie’s been given a bit-part. It is all great fun and Patricia is not the least surprised when her blonde and cute friend attracts the handsome A-lister male lead’s attention.
When he’s found murdered in the upper deck pool, the killer leaves a not saying Barbie’s next, it falls on Patricia to figure out who the killer is. With Jermaine and Barbie, as well as lame-duck Shane Sussmann (a strange looking extra she befriended) Patricia’s going to have enough help while unraveling the truth. The prime suspect has got an ironclad alibi and there’s certainly something going on with the movie’s gorgeous female lead.
Are there going to be more bodies? Is the new deputy captain going to be of any help this time around? Is Jermaine going to be able to serve tea at four? It will take more than mere luck to solve this case. Will she survive The Director’s Cut?
“The Couple in Cabin 2124” is the fourth novel in the “Patricia Fisher Mystery” series and was released in the year 2019. A crewmember kills himself yet hands Patricia a cryptic message and a request to save Anna right before he jumps, she feels obligated to honor his final wish. Who’s Anna?
The message takes her to investigate the strange looking and mysterious couple that stays in cabin 2124 and starts an adventure that takes Patricia and her buddies through the streets and underbelly in Tokyo, Japan. Why would he kill himself? And what’s the couple in 2124 up to?
Patricia’s quest to save the unidentified Anna’s not her sole problem this time. The captain, that is usually friendly and warm, seems to be flirting with her now. She is in her fifties, for heaven’s sake! How could she be thinking about beginning again, but goodness, he’s a handsome man and very charming.
Before she can come to grips with any of this, they dock in Japan where Charlie (her estranged husband) waits for her at the Port. His cheating behavior acted as her catalyst for her around the world adventure. He’s not done with marriage it appears, either. Yet how does Patricia feel about him now her anger’s had some time to dissolve?
