The “Oriceran Universe” series is a set of novels by several American authors of detective mysteries. Some of the novelists include AL Knorr, David Berens, Flint Maxwell, Sarah Noffke, SM Boyce, Michael Anderle, Meg Cowle, Martha Carr and Flint Maxwell.
These are authors known for writing some of the most interesting detective mysteries even though some of them also write in other genres including romance, fantasy, paranormal and science fiction works.
The first novel of the series was “Walking Magic” that was first published by Michael Anbderle and Martha Carr in 2017.
The “Oriceran Universe” series of novels are detective mystery novels that follow the life and times of Detective Leira. At the opening of the series, she starts experiencing what she believes are hallucinations, only to realize that these are real happenings in the world.
At the beginning, she wonders if she is going the way of her mother who has some mental illness. Things start to crystalize when she is asked to help in resolving the mystery of a murder of an elven prince.
Leira proves a strong woman in both body and mind, even though she could not be more different from the elves and humans in her world.
“Waking Magic,” the first novel of the “Oriceran Universe” series of novels asserts what a lot of people have been thinking. There are some people in the world who think not everyone can handle the truth. In their quest to protect people from the truth they keep it hidden for thousands of years.
But the truth refuses to stay hidden and is coming back in a big way. Some of the programs on TV show are asking the right questions, even if they do not have the answers.
In this atmosphere, Leira Berens finds herself in a race against time as she faces off with magical powers. She is working alongside a mischievous troll that has a penchant for swearing. While her sidekick might not look so serious, the stakes are very real and so is her visit to the paranormal world.
There is a timebomb about to obliterate the world, an elven prince has been killed and her mother does seem crazy. However, she gets help from all manner of people and places and may just pull through.
The second novel of the “Oriceran Universe” series of novels by Martha Carr and Michael Anderle “Release of Magic” continues from where the first novel left off.
Detective Leira Berens saw the case she was working on blow up in her face. The only thing that kept her hoping was a last minute surge of magic. She has not found the time bomb and she has run out of leads even as she needs to get back in touch with her feelings.
Still, she would rather tackle a felon if she had to choose between that and dealing with her feelings. Fortunately she still gets to enjoy Cheetos, road trips and Dr. Pepper Correk. She also gets the help of a swearing troll, a light elf and a massive paranormal community she just met.
She has acquired magical powers which go right down to her DNA. She was getting to terms with that until the Fed noticed and started trailing her. Still, she has to deal with shaking off the Feds even as she tries to free her mother and save her society.
“Protection of Magic,” the third novel of the “Oriceran Universe” series of novels, sees Leira becoming more badass as her power is growing.
She has recently struck a deal with the Federal Bureau of investigations and will be working for them. But she will only cooperate if they promise to get her mother released from the psych ward.
She will also need the help of friends and family all of whom are willing to support her. Leira is finally getting to understand the meaning of family as anyone that could help you when the going gets tough. They could be family even if they are not necessarily related to you by blood.
She also learns about magic and makes use of what she learns to fight dark paranormal forces. With the help of her mother and Dr. Correk, she is taking the biggest risk as she tries to get her grandmother home.
With her troll and magical family by her side, she is fighting a blackmist and in doing so learns a lot about her magical powers and abilities that anyone could ever have imagined.
Protection of Magic is a great story with likable, real and well written characters with excellent twists and resolutions.
