N.H. Paxton
NH Paxton is a dream, a name, and a passion. Writing is very challenging. It takes concentrated will, effort, and some level of multiple skills. Mostly, it takes perseverance, and the willingness to fail repeatedly before making a true and noteworthy accomplishment.
Paxton started writing at the age of ten, just ridiculous stuff, totally stupid stuff. If you read it today, you’d chuckle at the horror he inflicted upon his family.
A couple decades later, he writes professionally, but there is a story behind it, like there is with all good work. He’d always wanted to write professionally, however everything seemed to always be out of reach. Big publishers were so intimidating to him, and the idea of having somebody professionally critique his soul’s desires caused him a whole lot of anxiety. So Paxton wrote some short stories, and published them on Deviant Art for years, hid his craft and chose not to do anything further.
There are worlds constantly floating around in an author’s mind, constantly shifting and changing, evolving before their very eyes, never exactly the same. Mercurial. However those worlds are just begging to be released, and so he was given the chance to put this world into place.
Having this shot to write in an Anthology was his first step toward truly becoming the writer that he had always wished about becoming. It invigorated him and allowed him to show his true worth. That he had whole universes and worlds built inside of his brain, and that he was reasonably good at putting words down onto paper.
He’s a word smithing, creating entire universes, and developing interesting and new characters and economics, providing his own unique take on society and magic, and he loves doing it.
Every good tale must start somewhere, and he is living proof that it can happen to anybody. So, are you going to write too? If you pen a book, who is going to read it? And if you don’t write that book, there will not be anything for those people to sit down and read.
“The Ballad of Jaro Edgewalker” is a short story in the “Viridian Gate Online: Alchemic Weaponeer” series and was released in 2018. Jaro is a hitman and he is good at his job. However when he finds an enemy that is insurmountable by typical means and stumbles across a plot to destroy all that he loves, Jaro must balance his morality with the love he has for his friends, and make a very tough choice.
“Vindication” is the first novel in the “Viridian Gate Online: Alchemic Weaponeer” series and was released in 2019. The end of the world isn’t such a bad thing for Vlad Nardoir, a Russian weapons engineer.
To be honest, his world ended six months previously when his wife died, and ever since that point, things have only gone downhill from there. Favors to the Russian mafia. Soul crushing medical debt. Now asteroid. This is life in a nutshell, for Vlad.
However in a wild twist of fate, he’s discovered a way out. An opportunity to begin anew in a whole new ultra-immersive MMORPG known as Viridian Gate Online. Making this leap could kill him, then again, death ain’t such a bad thing for a dude without all that much to live for. Even in this virtual world, though, old grudges burn true, and the past is not nearly as far gone as it would seem.
He has to use his rugged persistence, quick wits, and strange set of skills as a weapons engineer in order to make a place for himself in this brand new world, or else be forcibly dragged on back into the same life he fought so very hard to escape.
Readers enjoyed getting to know Vlad even more now that he’s been given his own spinoff. You get to see Vlad in various stages of development, and all of his quirkiness which we have all come to laugh and love him for.
“Absolution” is the second novel in the “Viridian Gate Online: Alchemic Weaponeer” series and was released in 2019. A Russian weapon engineer’s work is never finished. Not while the Imperial Legion is marching.
After dying, losing his soulmate twice, building the elemental canons, and knocking down a lot more than just metaphorical walls for the Crimson Alliance, Vlad’s looking for a place he can call his own. A crafting guild which will be able to produce the most overpowered loot that the world of V.G.O. has ever seen before.
Gathering up his personal guard, Vlad sets off across the monster infested Storme Marshes in order to locate the perfect source of power, hidden away in the guts of a mysterious sunken ruin. Unfortunately, the old Earth mob has not forgotten about him, and Vlad’s not the only one that has a thirst for forbidden inventions. He’s less than a week to overcome these old and new enemies, or his dreams of a guild all for all crafters is going to be lost forever.
The character development in this is taken up a notch by Paxton, who does a great job of bringing everybody to life, making you fall in love with each character.
“Insurrection” is the third novel in the “Viridian Gate Online: Alchemic Weaponeer” series and was released in 2020. There is never enough time to truly enjoy life to the fullest, especially not when you are Vlad Nardoir. Vlad has done a number of impressive things during his short time in Eldgard. He has helped capture an Imperial fortress, created a Crafter’s guild where all are welcome, and defeated some corrupted demigod. However his biggest challenge has yet to come.
With a timer that is counting down until the Vault of Souls changes locations, leaving him totally without a lead for its place of rest, Vlad must battle against a powerful hidden evil, time itself, and his own internal darkness in order to destroy this vault in time.
Can Vlad possibly overcome all of these mighty challenges that wait for him, or is he going to run out of time, and get lost in his quest?
