M.E. Clayton is a suspense, contemporary and romance author. She has always been an avid reader and she thought why not try her hand at writing. She published “Catching Avery,” her debut novel in 2018 and has never looked back since becoming a very prolific author.
The novel was a product of a lot of encouragement and positive feedback from family and friends who would not let her quit until she became a published author. Clayton now has more than sixty novels across more than a dozen series of novels and single standing titles.
When she is not working her day job, reading or writing, she can usually be found spending time with her husband, spending time with her grandchildren, offering advice to her daughter or having heart to heart with her teenage son.
Clayton grew up in a very small town in Central California where she had very little to do. It was from all the boredom that her imagination was forced to develop. She used to read a lot during this time and remembers reading “To Kill A Mockingbird” when she was a middle schooler and “The Good Earth” as a high schooler.
It was from these books that she became emotionally invested in reading and storytelling. The first story that M.E. Clayton ever wrote was, “Catching Avery,” which would become her debut novel in 2018. The novel would become the first of the very successful “Seven Deadly Sins” series of novels.
Initially, she wanted to show the manuscript to a friend to get feedback on whether she had it in her to write something that could get published. Her friend who was a very avid consumer of novels loved the story so much, that she demanded Clayton make it into a series.
Writing had always been something M.E. Clayton wanted to do, even though she always had a fear that she was not good enough or did not have the time. As the mother of two children, having a steady paycheck was very important. Still, she knew that she had to chase her dream at some point if she was to achieve.
She finally got down to it in 2018 once her children were grown and she no longer had to worry about having a steady paycheck. Just like many aspiring authors, the pull of traditional publishing was great but not easy and ultimately she opted for indie publishing.
Once she read “How to Write, Publish and All That Good Stuff” by R.L. Mathewson, had the nudge she needed to start writing. She was surprised when her debut became a bestseller and turned her hobby into a passion.
Nonetheless, she still holds a day job for financial security, and because she does not want to hate her writing hobby by making it a job.
M.E. Clayton’s novel “Facing the Enemy” introduces Emerson Andrews, a woman for whom the dark side of life is something she is very familiar with. She had been brought up in an abusive household full of violence that had unfortunately robbed her of her mother.
At the opening of the story, she is just about to turn 18 when her aunt takes her in. She has been sent to live tens of miles away from home at a place where money is like a god. On the other hand is Ramsey Reed, a man who is not intimidated by social standing, power or money, since he had many of these in huge quantities.
He understands that the rich can be just as degenerate as the poor even though they had the power to pay people off to conceal their crimes. As an eighteen year old tired and sick of the people around him, he usually made use of them as tools to entertain himself.
When Andrews meets Ramsey at the pre school year party they have incredible chemistry. But they also have a battle of wills that may rob weaker people of their sanity.
“Engaging the Enemy” by M.E. Clayton is the story of Roselyn Bell, a teenager that had been living a normal life until her mother remarried. She finds herself in a world where she has access to as much money as she needs.
She goes from living in Suburbia to a Sands Cove mansion, where she finds it difficult to fit in with her grunge-style clothing, nose ring and loud makeup. At the opening of the novel, her mother has been traveling with her husband and Bell has to stay with a stepbrother who hates her guts.
Now that she is not living in her familiar old neighborhood she is very lonely. But then she meets Liam McCellan the prince of Sandy Cove. He had always lived a life of luxury with drugs, cars and money as he came from a very wealthy family that was respected even in Sands Cove.
He fears nothing and answers to no one until he meets Roselyn Bell. She just changed the rules and does not care if she wants to pay or not. She is finding it difficult to transform from a suburban girl tyo running with the best of Sands Cove.
But Liam intends to make sure she can run with the wolves and takes up her place in Sands Cove.
M.E. Clayton’s novel “Battling the Enemy” introduces Deke Marlow, a teenager that had a very extraordinary upbringing. His parents had provided him with power and freedom, non-existent boundaries and freedom most teenagers can only dream of.
Given that he was never brought up by his parents he does not care for the expectations of society or any rules. He is now waiting to graduate and move on to better things when he goes to a party and meets Delaney Martin.
She is a nerd that had a terrible childhood where she was raised by servants. She is a loner that avoids darting, boys, parties or popularity as she prefers being invisible. Delaney has a year left at Windsor and plans to head to college to study and become a lawyer. She hopes to then marry and get kids at some point but once she meets Deke her plans are thrown into jeopardy.
She has managed to catch the unwanted and reckless attention of Marlow and is no longer so sure what she wants.
