L.E. Modesitt, Jr. is an American novelist of science fiction and fantasy. Modesitt spent 20 years working as a political writer in Washington D.C. His series included the Saga of Recluce (his best known work), Spellsong Cycle, The Corean Chronicles, The Imager Portfolio and several other series. Some of the several recurring themes in his novels include the Galactic Empire, Galactic war, time travel, nanotechnology and love of food.
