Laurie Zaleski’s mother always dreamed of running an animal rescue. But ever since she heard Annie’s dream, Laurie thought from being a girl to being an adult that she would make that dream come true.
It took some time, but thirty years later she was able to do it. She was a successful business woman and was able to purchase a farm of fifteen acres that was located deep in South Jersey’s Pinelands. She had plans to relocate Annie along with her group of rescue animals (which included pigs, chickens, cats, dogs, goats, and horses) when her mother unexpectedly passed away. It was just two weeks before they had planned to move.
Laurie was heartbroken and stricken with grief. However, she resolved that she would make the dream of her mother her own and fight to have it come true. She set up the Funny Farm Animal Rescue in 2001 in New Jersey outside Mays Landing. She continues to work on her mother’s goal of being able to save animals that have been neglected and abused.
This is the story of one woman who did her best to keep her promises. She worked hard to bring the dreams of her mother to life and the resulting legacy is one that saves all types of animals and helps them to have a higher quality of life after being rescued.
It is also the tale of Annie, a woman who was able to make a new life for herself with three children and took on so many animals that needed help along the way. This is the story of these animals that are adorable and brave that ended up being rescued as well.
