L.B. Dunbar is a bestselling romance fiction author from Illinois Chicago. She was born in Chicago and then spent much of her childhood in the Michigan town of East Lansing before she moved back to Chicago.
She was the typical Catholic girl that attended Catholic schools from grade school to high school before she proceeded to get her degree at an all woman’s college.
Dunbar is also a mother of four kids and has been married for more than two decades. When she began writing she had been working a full-time job as a teacher while raising four very young kids.
She published Speak From the Heart her debut novel and over the years has been accused of having an overactive imagination.
This has been of huge help as she has managed to publish more than fifty works of fiction including contributions to series by other authors, short stories, novellas, omnibuses, and single-standing novels.
She also writes magical mythological retellings of romance under the pseudonym Elda Lore. Much of her life is now all about taking care of her four kids and husband, reading fairy tales having the occasional margarita, a strong hug, and a deep belly laugh.
While L.B. Dunbar was growing up, she used to be a huge reader of fiction. She got into romance when she read her first true romance author Jane Austen.
She also loved to read Judy Bloom’s “Forever,” which was her very first introduction to topics that involved sex in fiction.
In her teenage years, she made the decision that she would one day become an author but she was not so sure about what she would write.
She always felt that she needed to write something outstanding and spectacular rather than just a touching and good story.
Luckily she got over that soon and in 2005, she made her first attempt at a novel which was not that great. But then, six years later, she had a story that just would not go away and two years later, she published her debut.
When she published her first book, she was not so sure she would pen many other novels but she just kept going. She was fortunate that in 2019 she was finally able to quit her day job.
Luckily, her husband supported her in her quest to become a full-time author rather than find another job, and the rest as they say is history.
The biggest turning point for L.B. Dunbar came in 2017 at a time when things were not going so great. She was writing and making some money but she could not be consistent since she was still working her day job.
At some point, she had penned “After Care,” a newsletter story featuring an older couple who get into a whirlwind romance while holidaying in Hawaii.
Most of her readers wrote to her saying she needed to make it into a novel. She initially wrote the novel intending to be the final novel before she closed shop on her writing career.
When the novel came out it was a great hit and it turned out that a lot of people were interested in reading second-chance romance fiction with characters above 40.
She now pens mostly novels with characters over 40 and the stories with MMA, rockstars and the new adult fiction are mostly from her earlier days.
L.B. Dunbar’s novel “After Care” opens with a sexy silver fox meeting a survivor of breast cancer while on a vacation, and he might just be the cure she needs.
There were no sweeter words than being told she was cancer free and that she is thankful to have a second chance at life. She now intends to live and the first step of this is heading to Hawaii alongside her two grown children.
They have a fortnight to refresh, reboot and reconnect but she never imagined she would meet Tommy Carrigan who would awaken in her the spirit of adventure.
He is a middle-aged man in his forties with pepper and salt hair with slightly longer locks curling at his neck in black satin and shimmery silver. Her cheeks turned hot and her mouth dried when he looked in her direction.
While he is not a young man, he is a man’s man. He has the sexiness of an older man with confidence, firm abs, barrel chest which showed through the tight t-shirt and does not leave much to the imagination.
Her doctor never prescribed falling in love with a rockstar but this is not an opportunity she is ready to pass up.
“Midlife Crisis” by L.B. Dunbar is another intriguing forties romance that involves a single mother in crisis and a sexy silver fox who might have a second chance at love.
She is feeling unaccomplished at forty-one years as her midlife crisis starts in earnest on her birthday when she burns the toast.
She is underappreciated despite being very hardworking as she never says no to her three children or her husband, even though she desperately wants to.
When she comes face to face with a sexy silver-haired man several times, Midge Everett just wants to say yes.
On his part, Hank Paige is a former rocker that once had it all in fortune fame, and women but is now a recovering alcoholic.
In the recent past, his generosity had landed him in hot water with a damsel in distress and he does not want to go through that again.
Now Midge needs to fight the ghost of his past relationships, even as she questions how ready she is for a relationship.
L.B. Dunbar’s novel “Restored Dreams” opens with a handsome silver fox finding that some woman had broken into his expensive vacation home.
Her business partner had urged her to go on a well-deserved vacation as she had worked hard to make her business a success.
She could not be more proud of all she has achieved but there is still an emptiness in her life like a cupcake that needs a little icing. The emptiness goes back to Brut Paige the man she believes is the one that got away.
He was the last person she expected to find living at her beach house rental. For two decades, she had kept tabs on him as he took care of everyone else including his growing child and his father’s garage.
She knows the man needs a break as much as she does and when he offers something preposterous she cannot help but accept. They will be spending a week together with no plans for the future. Who knows what will happen?
