Kacen Callender is an author out of Saint Thomas who is best known for writing YA fiction and fantasy. Callender’s book, Hurricane Child, was the Stonewall Book Award and Lambda Literary Award winner.

Callender was born and raised in St. Thomas, but attended Sarah Lawrence College where they earned a bachelor’s degree from Sarah Lawrence College in Japanese and Creative Writing. They later attended The New School’s Writing for Children program and received their MFA. Callender was an editor at Little, Brown before becoming an author.
