Jenna St. James
Jenna St. James is a former court reporter turned educator. She has a Master’s degree in Special Education, and an Education Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Jenna also spent 12 years in the ministry.
She writes in the genre of cozy/women’s literature. Her characters are well rounded and humorous. Her books typically revolve around family (and murder obviously), and there is always this element of the military (positive) in her stories.
She loves spending her days undwinding by repurposing glassware and making nightlights, chandeliers, hummingbird feeders, lamps, and all kinds of other crafty things.
“Picture Perfect Murder” is the first novel in the “Ryli Sinclair Mystery” series and was released in 2015. A budding young amateur sleuth, a sassy, tequila drinking great-aunt, and a murderer off on a spree.
When Ryli Sinclair (a small town reporter) moonlights as the forensic photographer at this murder scene, she’s no idea the trouble she’ll soon incur. However once the murderer leaves a gruesome gift behind on her front porch, she’s got no choice but to get her crazy Aunt Shirley (who’s a former PI) to help.
While the unlikely dynamic duo hunt clues down while pursuing this killer, hilarity ensues while the Garrett Kimble (the hunky chief of police) throws stumbling blocks in their path at each and every turn. Can Ryli and Aunt Shirley actually capture this killer before time runs out? Or is the murderer going to make sure this first case is their last?
“Murder on the Vine” is the first novel in the “Sinclair Sisters Mystery” series and was released in 2016. Jaycee Sullivan (a bar and bookstore owner) figured that it was just another typical day when Jax (her pstry chef sister) asked for her help delivering chocolates to this local winery. But the discovery of this dead body was anything but typical for Jaycee.
Then once Mike Connors (the hunky new detective in town) demands that Jaycee keep her nose out of this investigation, she figures she’s got no choice but to take matters into her own hands. After all, it is her sister’s baking reputation on the line and there is still a killer on the loose. With Gramps’ help, who is a retired Army colonel, her mom, and Tillie, who is a former trapeze artist and contortionist, Jaycee picks the investigation gauntlet up and runs with it.
Between boozy baking, slinging suds, and numerous wine tastings, Jaycee has to scramble in order to bring this killer down before Jax is the next one in line.
“A Burning Hot Murder” is the second novel in the “Sinclair Sisters Mystery” series and was released in 2017. With just two weeks before Jax’s bakery is set to open Jaycee and the gang are working hard to finalize the arrangements. But unfortunately the untimely murder of two Traveler’s Bay citizens puts a damper on such a happy occasion. Even worse is the fact that both Jax and Jaycee get thrust into the forefront yet again as the prime suspects.
When Detective Connors (Jaycee’s boyfriend) gets taken off the case because of a conflict of interest, Gramps gives Jaycee the go ahead to work her magic and solve this case.
Amid all the chaos of cop car chases, serving up gossip and drinks at Gone with the Whiskey, joyriding in a Miata smashing truck, gang initiation rituals, and motorcycle chases, Jaycee and the gang have to traverse their way into clearing the good Sullivan name.
“Blazing Trouble” is the first novel in the “Trinity Falls” series and was released in 2019. A reporter in need of a story, a reluctant most eligible bachelor, and a pact that is more than they had bargained for.
What happens when this group of elderly women and men at the local senior center decide they want to interfere in their grandkids’ love lives?
Caleb Travers, a fireman and Trinity Falls’ Most Eligible Bachelor, strikes this bargain with Katherine “Kat” O’Malley (a reporter) and neither of them is ready for the sparks that fly. Now if they could just convince their grandmas (long time rivals) to simply butt out of this fake relationship of theirs.
Between a gang shootout with real weapons, a jealous ex-girlfriend, and two black eyes, Katherie O’Malley works to prove that she is badass enough to nab Trinity Falls’ Most Eligible Bachelor. It’s not like he is going to need all that much convincing, pact or not pact. However once Kat’s faced with having to risk her heart and go all-in with Caleb, is she going to be able to take such a leap of faith? Or is she going to just decide to walk away instead and allow her heart to crash and burn?
“Deadly Claws” is the first novel in the “Witch in the Woods” series and was released in 2021. A Gargoyle sheriff raising his teen daughter, a 40 year old Witch that has a new career, and an enchanted island filled with secrets.
Shayla Loci (a career driven witch) will turn 40 soon and is ready for a change. Once she retires from capturing criminal supernaturals for the government, she figures that her days of chasing down bad guys has ended. But little did she know that her new gig as the game warden on Enchanted Island would thrust her back into harm’s way, and she was not even on the clock officially yet. However once Sheriff Stone enlists her to help find out who murdered an island resident, she readily agrees.
Between gathering clues, sorting through alibis, and mentoring this wayward teen on how to be a witch, her life is nothing short of hectic. If only her estranged father, the King, would not insist on her taking along a bodyguard, named Needles, with her everywhere that she goes. Right when she believes she has identified the killer, this new threat emerges, and leaves her to make this snap decision which might just cost Shayla her own life.
“Sounds of Murder” is the first novel in the “Kara Hilder Mystery” series and was released in 2022.
