Chronological Order of The Directorate Books

The directorate series is a young adult series by Pam Uphoff. This series features Ebsa, a young man with incredible talent and a curious mind. From his character, it is easy to tell that Ebsa will get in trouble and experience adventures along the way. The cast also includes Paer, Ra’d, and other members of the Directorate school.

The cast in this series comprises of youngsters who are undergoing training during a period where peace is anticipated. While the students are doing a structured form of learning, a lot is going on. You’ll also meet other super-humans who are keen to pass on knowledge to the next generation.

The Directorate School

The Directorate School is the first book in the Directorate series. The story is set in a school set up where students interact and learn. They include Paer, the president’s daughter, Nighthawk, an international student from Comet Fall, and Ebsa. Ebsa is quite the explorer, and his wish is to explore other dimensions as he gains expertise in shooting all types of guns. To be able to do this, Ebsa needs to keep his grades up and stay on top of his game while dealing with the Action Team Trainees.

This series is said to be a continuation of the Wines of the Gods series. This means that the characters still come with superpowers, and some characters from the Wine of the Gods series are also part of the Directorate school cast. While the banishment from earth was supposed to be the end of the genetically engineered children, their descendants are still thriving, many centuries later. In the fourteen centuries, the Gods have existed; they have been forgotten, rediscovered, and engaged in many wars.

This book documents the Empire of the One, a kingdom that grew thanks to an accidental stranding two years before the Gods were sent to exile. This Empire arrived just when three superpowers comprising of the Islamic Union, China, and Greater Argentina were in the middle of a war. The three superpowers were fighting for control of the ruins of North America and Europe. Even though the ruins were no longer radioactive, the three parties were still interested in them.

The Empire of the One members uses their unique talents to join the Islamic Union and become respected as the Prophets of the One True God. Many years later, the Empire of the One descendants are still respected members of the elite club in the united world. A few deadly clashes have occurred along the way, and it is clear that if something is not done to foster peace, things will get worse, and a devastating war will ensue.

The newly formed Department of Interdimensional Security is keen to bring much-needed peace. The directorate school is part of the peacebuilding initiative. Here, the Empire of the one youngster are taken through training by teams that explore the new world. With this school, the future of the Empire is bright, but their success will only become a reality if the youngsters can survive the politics of the day.

The focus of this book is on agents’ training. The agents go through rigorous training in a variety of subjects, including magic and physical education. The aim is to ensure that the agents realize their full potential. In the Director school, something is always happening. Whether it is in the schoolyard battles or the actual combat, a lot is always happening here. The pace is relentless, and the cast is nothing but delightful. Get to read about young people falling in love, bullies that are always looking for trouble, and magic. There is also horseback riding, politics, and a possible inter-dimensional war.

A Tale of Three Interns

A Tale of Three Interns is the second book in The Director Series. The first year of Director School is over, and Ebsa, Ra’d, and Paer are going to their summer internship. The trio is sure that the summer will be boring as they doubt that they will get a chance to do anything dangerous during their internship. The experience turns out to be different. First, assisting in a study on dinosaurs turns out to be one fun adventure. The interns also get to meet many of the elders supposed to shape them to become essential members of the society in the future. Add some fairytale romance in all this, and this internship cannot be better.

Technically, this story is about magicians and dinosaurs. While most of Pam Uphoff’s writing features politics and wars, these themes are toned down here. There are no many details about other dimensions, even though it is clear that the cast is nothing but ordinary. However, the characters have superpower powers, and also the coursework at schools involves magic, among other extra-ordinary lessons. In Pam Uphoff’s fashion, the lead actors in this book are drawn from the minor characters in the previous series as new characters are introduced. This does not mean that you must have read the last series to understand this book. Even if you have not read any of Pam Uphoff’s writing, you will still enjoy the Tale of three Interns as a standalone.

This is a story that will appeal to the inner teenager in all of us. Get to read about the adventures of students with magical powers as they try to hunt for dinosaurs. There is also some romance and enough action to keep you captivated from the beginning to the end.

A Tale of Three Interns is an excellent read with a fast pace, an impressive cast, and an exciting storyline. There are no wars here, and most of the book is centered on the three interns and the tips and tricks they pick during their internship. That said, the writing is excellent, and the author’s exemplary storytelling skill is evident throughout the book. You can be sure that by the end, you will be looking forward to reading the third book in the Director series and more of Pam Uphoff’s writing.
