Spring Raine
Spring Raine is the first book in Paradise Pines series by Delia Latham. This is a beautiful story of a young woman named Raine who sets out to discover herself little did she know what life held for her. Since her childhood, Raine’s life has always been a scheduled one, including her schooling, and also her career. Being an obedient child, Raine has always followed the laid out plan for her. One day she decides to enjoy a vacation before starting her fulltime job against her parents’ wishes.
During this vacation period, Raine meets with a lady who possesses some angelic characters, or maybe one would say that she is an angel. Angelina is the lady’s name. She seems to know most of the things that only Raine knows and no other earthly person should. As Raine gets to know her “angel” she discovers that Angelina is quite a good lady. Additionally, she seems to be a walking Bible, since she regularly quotes bible verses. This story is intermixed with many verses from the Bible, and it is an excellent example of how our lives are intermixed with God’s word.
Raine spends several nights at an Inn operated by Angelina where she encounters Declan, a man who at first seems friendly but after several encounters, she discovers that her heart is gradually drawn to his. Declan and Raine soon start spending time together, and that marks the beginning of their journey. However, their trip will not be an easy one as there are lots of roadblocks that lay ahead of them. First, Raine has plans to head back home after her vacation is over and it manifestly clear to many that long distance relationships do not work. Secondly, Declan is the man who has been hired by Raine’s father to keep a close watch on her without Raine’s knowledge. The more profound their relationship grows, the more it comes difficult for him to come out clean about. The relationship that exists between the heroine, Raine and the hero, Declan is a clear indication of how God’s timing works, how He people paths cross just when needed.
A key theme of theme of this story is how God uses encounters with butterflies both in life and art form to speak the truth in the heroine life and draw her close to himself. During the time that Raine spends at the Inn, she realizes that God wants to have a personal relationship with her. All her life she has had a religion and not a relationship. The butterfly in this story becomes such a significant role in this story as the heroine discovers her true calling and finds joy in helping others. God makes use of butterflies and others in Raine’s life to show her that it is her time to fly, and during this journey that she embarks with God, Raine finally finds healing for all the pain that the past had caused her.
Summer Dreams
Summer Dreams is the second book in Paradise Pines by Delia Latham. It is a refreshing, sweet and uplifting novel. The book introduces the readers to Summer, an author residing at Paradise Pines Lodge with her cousin, Deah whose parents hired Summer to keep a close watch on their wild daughter. Deah is a friendly superficial young lady while Summer, on the other hand, is a spirited Christian and she does not like the life that Deah lives; all that she wants is spend her vacation days on the beach scripting her next novel.
Then there is Logan, an artist currently living near the lodge where Summer is spending her vacation. He sometimes sets his canvas on the lodge beach to pain. Of late, the young man has had some weird dreams saving a young lady who is drowning. One day, he witnesses a wave wash away Summer, and he realizes that this is precisely the dream that he has been having and that he has to save the young woman. Logan saving Summer marks the beginning of a sweet romance between the two.
Forming part of this beautiful and well-woven story is Miss Angie Love, the all-knowing, scripture overseer and the owner of the lodge. She is an inspiration to all that know her and most of her friends think that she is angelic. Other characters include friends from the church that Logan and Miss Angie attend, and they all make this second title an extraordinary story.
The second book in the series is an ideal match for readers seeking a personal relationship with God, people who are new to the Christian faith or even Christians who are lifelong believers. The author, Latham does a beautiful job of showcasing how God views all his children as his favorite. It is a good reminder of how God’s love works and how He loves each person equally regardless of their past or even their present situation. The story shows how people paths cross and how the “hour of need” in a person’s life could lead to the formation of relationships bonds that are stronger than blood-bonds.
There are different relationships that Summer Dreams explores. First of all, there is the relationship between, God and His people. Then there is the relationship that develops between Logan and Summer, which often faces challenges. Lastly, there is a relationship between Summer, (the spirited young woman) with Deah, the young wild girl who does not have a personal relationship with God.
Summer Dreams is a good novel, with lots of Biblical truths. There are lots lessons expressed and also fantastic life changes for some of the characters
