About Deborah M. Hathaway

A hugely creative author with much to say, Deborah M. Hathaway is well-known for her massively entertaining romance fiction. Drawing in readers from all over, her books inspire and lift up her audience in equal measure, with many of her stories being extremely inspirational as well. Gifted with her words, she knows how to craft a story well, really developing a sense of rapport with the reader on a profound level. Providing a message in each of her books, too, she says what it is that she wants to say each and every time, never holding back.

Inspired by the writing of such great authors like Jane Austen, she has gone on to become a household name for many herself. Reaching readers from all over the world, she’s become a bestselling sensation, creating her own unique style in the process. This approach to the format has been hugely effective, as she’s essentially made it her own, transforming and evolving it. Knowing her craft as well as her audience, she perfectly understands what they’re looking for, delivering it each and every time.

Creating characters that really stand out, too, she crafts fully three-dimensional personalities that stay with readers long after they’ve put the book down. Making a powerful impression on her audience, she pushes the boundaries of the format, taking it in bold new, and exciting directions. Using real-life as her inspiration, she essentially takes the reader on a journey, holding them there till the very last page. There’s a lot more to come in the future as well, as she carries on growing as an author, with much to say and write about still.

Early and Personal Life

Growing up with a keen interest in literature, Deborah M. Hathaway would constantly be reading and writing from an early age. Reading Jane Austen’s novels as a young girl, she would become hugely invested in novels such as ‘Pride and Prejudice.’ Using Regency and romance to shape much of her following writing career heavily, she would go on to find a unique outlook of her own.

Attending Utah State University, she would gain a BA in English while focusing on creative writing for much of it. Refining and honing her craft as a novelist, she would eventually become a full-time writer herself, making a name as a fully-fledged author in her own right. Still writing to this very day, she has plenty more set on the horizon, living with her husband and children regularly visiting the United Kingdom.

Writing Career

The first novel that Deborah M. Hathaway would write was titled ‘When Two Rivers Meet,’ and it was published in 2015. It was a stand-alone novel introducing her to the reading public at large for the very first time, showing what she had to offer. In 2016 she would go on to publish her second novel, ‘To Warm a Wintered Heart,’ which would be another stand-alone historical romance title.

Later in 2019, she would go on to publish her ‘Behind the Light of Golowduyn’ historical romance, and it would begin her ‘Cornish Romance’ series. From this, Hathaway would go on to find even more success as an author while contributing to various other series alongside fellow writers. Her romance is easy to follow, as she’s gone on to be admired by both critics and the general public alike.

Near the Ruins of Penharrow

First brought out through the ‘Draft Horse Publishing’ label, this would come out back in 2020 on the 18th of April. It would be the third book in the ‘Cornish Romance’ series of novels, with the books all being thematically linked to each other. Set within the same time period and location, they do take place in the same world with some intersecting elements, but they don’t need to be read in order.

Heading out for a night of freedom and enjoyment, Gwynna Merrick is an aristocratic Bal maiden looking to settle into working at the copper mine to help save her family. During that night, her secret identity is discovered by none other than the miner Jack Trevethan, as the hard-drinking gambler threatens to reveal her. The two of them soon grow closer, though, as his hardened facade breaks down, showing his past’s true scars. Will the two of them overcome their respective differences, can Gwynna save her family, and what will take place near the ruins of Penharrow?

This is a heartfelt romance that really does work on every level, making for a truly enjoyable and highly engaging story. There’s so much warmth to it, as the reader is invested in the characters’ outcome and their happiness. Creating a whole world, Devon is brought to life on the page, with the audience being able to really understand what it was like back then.

To Warm a Wintered Heart

This stand-alone historical romance would originally come out in 2016 on the 20th of October, with it being an earlier novel from Hathaway. Not a part of any series as such, it can be read on its own, with it being a simple book to pick up yet having a compelling narrative. Once again published through the ‘Draft Horse Publishing’ imprint, it’s another strong story that’s easy to get lost within.

Returning to Warwickshire after an uneventful season living in Bath, Miss Charlotte Rosebury is to be met by her guest Mrs. Worthington. Accompanied by her son, Mr. Gabriel Worthington, she finds him standoffish, as he frowns at her upon their first meeting, with him vowing never to marry. This promise is soon put to the test, though, as the two of them are forced to live together, and a relationship grows between them. Will they overcome their differences and the past, can a romance truly blossom, and what will they find to warm a wintered heart?

This story, whilst being straightforward, really works as the reader becomes invested in what’s happening between the characters. Understanding the genre perfectly, Hathaway makes it fully her own, creating a real immersive quality in the setting and period. Letting her work speak for itself, this book is definitely a must for not only fans of the author but fans of the genre as a whole.
