There’s a lot to uncover within his writing, making him one of the foremost writers currently working in his field. Knowing his audience well at this point, he effectively pushes the boundaries of the thriller genre forwards in new and interesting directions.
He lets his stories speak for themselves and creates a rich and immersive atmosphere that fully envelops the reader in his world. With a psychological angle to his stories, too, he creates intricately woven narratives that constantly twist and turn the whole way. An expert at generating suspense, he constantly keeps it mounting and building, making sure it never lets up for the reader. This approach ensures they remain glued to the page, as he constantly surprises them every step of the way and page turn.
Creating numerous series, too, he’s always managing to find new and inventive ways to tell his stories more effectively. With well-written characters, each of his protagonists feels wholly believable and real, essentially coming alive off the page. Resonating with readers worldwide regardless of their background, his fiction has a sense of universality to it that sets them apart. With a lot more to come still, he continues to write regularly, as he definitely won’t be finishing soon.
Early and Personal Life
Born and raised in the northwest of England, he would grow up with a keen love of literature, developing it over the years. As a lifelong passion, he would finally realize it in 2020, making a name for himself as a fully-fledged full-time author. Producing a large quantity of work, he would go on to become a well-regarded mystery novelist combining drama and suspense in equal measure.
Refining and honing his craft during the intervening years, he would come to find his own voice, drawing inspiration from the world around him. Working in a number of different positions, including procurement administration, bartending, and shelf-stacking, he’s lived in a variety of different places. Still writing to this very day, he continues to put out work regularly and consistently, with much more to follow in the future yet.
Writing Career
Starting back in 2020, Daniel Hurst would begin his literary career with multiple thriller novels and mystery series. Making a real impact, he would start his ’20 Minute’ series, which would begin with the novel ’20 Minutes on the Tube,’ as readers would come to love the series. He would also start his ‘Influencing Trilogy’ with the book ‘Influence,’ which would be a thriller set within the digital age.
Throughout the course of his writing career, he has also written many stand-alone psychological thrillers too, the first of which was in 2020 titled ‘Til Death Do Us Part.’ With an extensive backlog of work, he would write a range of different books and works in a relatively short amount of time. Continuing to put out work, he maintains a presence both online and off and will carry on doing so as his following grows.
20 Minutes to Change a Life
First brought out in 2021 on the 4th of March, this would originally come out on the Kindle platform to an already eager audience. The tenth book in the ongoing ’20 Minute Series’ it’s a story that carries on in much the same vein as the previous books in the series. In regards to the premise of the series itself, it follows the idea of everything that happens in an eventful twenty minutes taking place over the duration of a short novella.
Set across the duration of a single twenty-minute during an afternoon, this sees the direction of someone’s life altered drastically. With characters returning once more, too, it looks at the events that can potentially turn everything around in a single brief period. The decisions made could make or break individuals, switching everything and moving the needle completely for everyone. What are those decisions, who will emerge triumphantly, and what will take place in those 20 minutes to change a life?
With a fun hook to the series, it really makes the most of its engaging and compelling premise, pushing it to its full potential. It’s a quick and easy read, fitting in nicely with the rest of the series, getting the most of each of the characters that are featured. The characters themselves are well-drawn, as the reader really feels the suspense they feel as they’re held on the edge of their seat.
Til Death Do Us Part
Originally published in 2020 on the 20th of November, this would initially come out on the Kindle platform as well. A mystery thriller with a self-contained story, it’s brief and to the point, making for a very entertaining casual read. One of the earlier novels from Hurst as an author, it’s a must for both fans of him as a writer and of the genre as a whole.
Believing herself to have the perfect husband, Megan is set to live work-free in their beautiful and secluded country house. Then she begins to want to get out and work again, finding a job in London, but her husband, Craig, is set against it. Soon she begins to learn the truth of their marriage, as not everything is as it seems once she discovers she cannot leave. Can she break free, why is she being held there against her will, and what was the truth behind those wedding vows when they both said ’til death do us part?’
Once again, this is a quick and easy read, being easy to pick up yet difficult to put down, as it makes for more than an effective thriller. Keeping the reader guessing throughout, there are so many exciting twists and turns, with a surprise on every page. With strong, well-written characters at the heart of it again, too, it works to keep the reader invested in the plight of Megan as a protagonist.
