Order of Commissaire Adamsberg Books
Commissaire Adamsberg is a series of crime thriller novels by French author Fred Vargas. Commissaire (or Chief Inspector) Jean-Baptiste Adamsberg is a police chief who travels around a lot as part of the job, but is based out of Paris, France. Adrien Danglard is Adamsberg’s deputy who is more methodical, as opposed to Adamsberg (who uses Zen methods), and loves his white wine. Camille Forestier is a musician and plumber who has an on-off relationship with Adamsberg.
Fred Vargas began her Commissaire Adamsberg series in 1991 with the French novel L’Homme aux cercles bleus (The Chalk Circle Man). The novel was released in English in 2009 and won the International Dagger Award. The novel Wash This Blood Clean from My Hand would also win the CWA’s International Dagger Award.
