The rule of the school is there should be no murder; that’s why Aspen’s mother thinks it will be a safe place for her daughter, protecting her from the people who want her dead. However, bullying and abuse are allowed. Even though there are some family members of the people her father betrayed, they can’t kill her.
The teachers and the head of the school are worse than she thought, and she ends up getting the worst room in the castle. She gets pushed and eats the leftovers as other kids eat good food. Quinton is so angry at her that and wants to pour all his frustration on her.

Even though children shouldn’t pay for their parent’s sins, it’s not the case at Corium University. He family makes her the biggest enemy in the school, and no one wants anything good for her.

Even though Quinton Ren is a best friend, he is a loner. He is the most feared in the school because of who his father is. He feels his life has gone out of control for the past year and wants to take charge of himself.

When Quinton realizes he can control Aspen, he takes the chance. Aspen wishes that the floor could open and swallow her whole. She doesn’t want to be everyone’s attention. She never wanted to cross paths with the person she most feared in the Corium.
