Pam Jenoff is an American author who is best known for her book, The Kommandant’s Girl. For college, she attended George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and then earned her Master’s degree in History from Cambridge University in England. After college, she would accept an appointment as Special Assistant to the Secretary of the Army which led to a long career in government.
Pam would work in both the Pentagon and the State Department until 1996 when she was assigned to the U.S. Consulate in Krakow, Poland. It was during this period that Pam learned a lot about Polish-Jewish relations and the Holocaust, which served her well in her later writing career.
