Author Toni Aleo is a huge hockey fan (big fan of the Nashville Predators and Shea Weber), not to mention pretty dorky. She has a husband, a bulldog, and two kids (one son and one daughter). She is even a hopeless romantic.
Toni is obsessed with Supernatural (which she would like to be a character on, just to be able hunt with Sam and Dean), all things Disney, Harry Potter, as well as all things that sparkle. Toni also loves the color pink.
While not in the gym working out or rooting for the Predators, she usually writes, plays taxi driver to her kids, or makes an effort to make her dreams real. She also watches her husband and son’s hockey games, and her daughter’s dance competitions. Toni also reads one of the newest romance books.
Toni has written many series, some of which include: the “Assassins” series, the “Bellevue Bullies” series, “The Spring Grove” series, and the “Taking Risks” series.
“Taking Shots” is the first novel in the “Assassins” series and was released in the year 2011. This novel stars Elli Fisher and Shea Adler. Elli Fisher has always had inadequacy issues, be it her weight, love life, or her job. That ends when she meets someone named Shea Adler. She meets him during a promotional shoot she does for the professional hockey team, the Assassins.
Shea grew tired of the life he lived out of the rink. All the women, drinking, and blowing money. It had to all end. It did when he met Eleanor Fisher. Never before had he met anyone like her. Feisty, shy, witty, and just gorgeous. Just looking at her felt like he was taking a huge hit, and he knew that he just had to have her.
Elli is just a little skeptical of him, while all he knows is that they were meant to be with each other. She is something that he needs in his life, he feels. Will she be able to throw all of the insecurities she has about herself out and love Shea with all she has? Or is she going to let a relationship from her past and her family wreck any possibility of her being happy?
Fans of the novel enjoyed the steamy sex in the book, and adored Shea throughout the book (because he is just about the perfect guy), while Elli is insecure, strong, and independent. This makes her mostly likable. The pair have a sweet relationship together. The ending to the book was simply a perfect way to end a romantic, fun, and sweet book.
“Trying to Score” is the second novel in the “Assassins” series and was released in the year 2012. This novel stars Fallon Parker and Lucas Brooks. Fallon Parker has a dream to make her family’s wine business into a huge success and then make her own wine cellar. Since she graduated college, she has been pushing to make that a reality. Even after she chanced a love and lost. When she finally is a sponsor for the Nashville Assassins, she believes her hard work is now paying off. The guy that broke her heart comes back to her.
Lucas Brooks is the leading scorer of the NHL and has it all together while he is on the ice, that is. When off the ice, he is just a mess, with the misery and anger that he has inside him. He dumped the most important person of his life and regrets it.
He comes back to Nashville, after being traded, and wants to prove to Fallon that he has changed and is a better man. There is still attraction between the two and the tension electrifies them. The odds are heavily against the couple. It is made worse after Lucas learns that Fallon has kept a stunning secret.
Toni is great at coming up with incredible stories that make your heart race and have characters you will remember, her males are always gorgeous. Fans of the novel found themselves loving Lucas and Fallon in the book. The connection that is made between both main characters is real and quite emotional. It is done to perfection by the author in the book. Some readers enjoyed the experience so much that they did not want the book to end.
“Empty Net” is the third novel in the “Assassins” series and was released in the year 2012. This novel stars Audrey Parker and Tate Odder. Audrey Parker is stuck working a job she hates, and desires after a big jerk. Her sister named Fallon, on the other hand, is moving out and marrying a hockey star named Lucas Brooks. When does Audrey get her Prince Charming? There is nothing that she has ever done that really seems to be good enough for the men she has been with in her life. Before she hits rock bottom, she wakes up next to a man named Tate Odder.
It was thrilling to be moved up from the minors to playing on the Nashville Assassins. It was a nice distraction. Not even the three shutouts in the Stanley Cup, which made him the first rookie to do so, could kill his pain. Tate is unable to continue to pretend it is all okay after the deaths of his sister and both of his parents.
It is then that he meets Audrey, both brilliant and sexy. She has a quirky sense of humor and a gentle warmth to her that make him feel like he is whole, something he has not felt in a while. In order for this to continue, he has to figure out a way to accept what has happened to him and learn how to live his life for love.
This was a book fans were looking forward to, and were glad that it was as good as they hoped it would be. Fans of the novel found that these books never disappoint, and Toni Aleo is one of readers’ favorite authors. Each of the books makes readers love the series that much more, even though they enjoy each book for different reasons. These books are hard to put down, and make readers fall for each of the main characters.
