Jodie Bailey
When Jodie Bailey is not at her keyboard, she is a former middle school literature teacher and yearbook adviser that is convinced a camping trip to the beach with her family, a good cup of coffee, and a great book can cure any and all ills.
She is a contributor to PWOC Internationals e100 Bible study for military wives. Her memberships include American Christian Fiction Writers. Jodie’s devotions have appeared in Fighting Fear: Winning the War at Home and Sweet Freedom with a Slice of Peach Cobbler.
Like a lot of writers, the right song can get her inspiration all spun up. There is this feeling in certain music that just works, and many of her stories have that one song that soundtracks the entire thing.
She wrote this two book series, that is about a racing family. When she hears Tobymac’s “Ignition”, she gets pumped to start working on that story all over again.
“Freefall” has a song that came after she had finished writing the book, during the revision process. There is a song by Def Leppard called “Two Steps Behind”. She could definitely see Shane in this song.
The best part of being a writer to Jodie is getting the chance to meet new characters. She just loves when a character “begins talking”. It is like making a new friend, and she can just spend hours exploring who they are and where they are going. If she’s not careful, however, she can get lost in getting to know the characters rather than writing their story. Then again, it is always a ton of fun starting the story, putting them into situations and seeing what happens next.
Jodie has family that died in the sinking of the Titanic. The whole story fascinates her. At one point, she toyed with the idea of writing a novel set in the past aboard the Titanic, and present, with the theme tying the two stories together. Taryn McKenna, the present day character, came easily. Within just a couple of days, she felt like she knew Taryn and Justin Callahan (the hero) personally. Their story continued on flowing, so she kept going with it.
When she attempted to write the historical portion of the story, it just wouldn’t come at all. She spent a month of screen time attempting to make it work, however it never got past the second page, so she shelved it. Later, the chance to write a novel for Abingdon’s Quilts of Love line popped up, and she realized that Taryn and Justin’s story was the perfect fit for it.
“Breach of Trust” is a stand alone novel and was released in 2016. Lethal reunion. Meghan McGuire’s ready to put her military career far behind her and begin her dream job helping out troubled kids, until this one man from her past reappears. Tate Walker is supposed to be dead. However he is now standing on her doorstep, telling her that she is in danger.
Tate never thought that he would ever see Meghan again, and certainly not as the target of the hacker he is attempting to bust. With each of their lives in danger, they must work together to hunt down this criminal. However when Tate learns about the past that Meghan’s been hiding, he is unsure if she is still the woman that he loved once. Or if he can trust her with his survival, as well as his heart.
“Dead Run” is a stand alone novel and was released in 2017. One soldier’s secret.
Kristin James’ morning run takes a deadly turn when she gets attacked by this stranger that is after something that her dead soldier brother stole while overseas. Sergeant First Class Lucas Murphy, her neighbor, steps in to help her and will not allow her to brush the attack under the rug.
He will do everything he can in order to keep Kristin alive, however he cannot tell her that he is under orders to investigate her connection to her brother’s misdeeds. Kristin’s got no idea what this bad guy is after and doesn’t want to believe that her brother was not on the straight and narrow. However while evidence against him continues piling up, can they catch the bad guys without becoming the next casualties?
“Blown Cover” is a stand alone novel and was released in 2022. Outrunning the past may just be the most dangerous mission of all.
The very last person that Makenzie Fuller, army special agent, expected to blow her cover for is her missing former partner that once betrayed her. However Ian Andrews does not remember the last four years at all, or why the arms dealer that Makenzie is investigating wants him dead.
Now on the run at Christmastime from her quarry and her own agency, Makenzie has to keep Ian alive, even while she questions whether or not she can even trust him.
“Witness in Peril” is a stand alone novel and was released in 2022. A killer lies in wait. A witness in their sights. Getting attacked after finding her client’s dead body sends Ivy Bridges, an estate lawyer, running to the one guy she believes she can trust: Special Agent Jacob Garcia, her college ex.
After showing up at his ranch with the daughter he doesn’t even know exists, Ivy finds facing Jacob to be just as tough as escaping from the killers on her heels. Will Jacob be able to keep them safe, even while enemies close in from all sides?
“Deadly Vengeance” is a stand alone novel and was released in 2023. The easiest way to murder somebody is to make sure they don’t even exist.
Somebody went and erased profiler Gabe Buchanan’s identity. And now they are attempting to kill him. And even though Chief Warrant Officer Hannah Austin betrayed him in the past when she was undercover investigating his friend, now she is his one and only hoe to restore his name and stay alive.
As the clock ticks down, can they track down this killer that wants to silence him permanently?
