With a variety of historical and romantic titles under her belt, the American writer, who is also known as Blair Valentine, has been active for quite some time now. Largely known for her unique take on the genre, she has come to be an extremely well regarded author within her field. Adept at the craft, she is able to draw the reader in and, ensuring that they keep reading right until the very final page, holds them and their attention throughout.
Early and Personal Life
Growing up with a love and passion for romantic literature, the author to be Bonnie Vanak would embark on a career immersed in the genre. It was her mother that would also help infuse her with this love of the form, as she held a large cache of romantic paperbacks. Reading voraciously, she would consume as many of them as she could, developing a love for the art-form and the craft.
Continuing this love of writing for much of her life, she also gained an academic background in the craft too. Attending the University of Florida, she would gain a journalism degree, thus allowing her to hone her skills in a highly precise manner. It would also enable her to gain the experience necessary when learning how to format and lay a story out for the reader.
Taking this learning on into her adult career as a writer, she would go on to become a reporter for a newspaper. This basic reporting of the news soon transformed into working for an international charity, as she would work there as a writer too. Becoming an active and informed writer, she would always be taking in new experiences, many of which she would also later feed back into her work.
Leading into the present, she still continues to write to this very day, as her work is put out on a regular and ever consistent basis. This includes many series and franchises that she is well known for, many of which her fans await with anticipation. Not showing any signs of stopping any time soon either, she has a long career ahead of her too, as she has plenty more releases planned on the horizon.
Writing Career
It was in 2002 that Bonnie Vanak would release her first book, embarking on a career of fantasy and contemporary romance writing. Titled ‘The Falcon and the Dove’, it was to set-up ‘Khamsin: Warriors of the Wind’ creating a franchise that would continue for many years. Taking a fantastical look at romance throughout the ages, it would provide a level of escapism that was both entertaining and enthralling.
Writing plenty of series, she is very well known for her long and epic series that manage to infuse fantasy and romance together. These series include such titles as ‘Werewolves of Montana’, ‘Draicon Werewolves’, ‘The Ancients’ and ‘Khamsin: Warriors of the Wind’. Showing a clear penchant for the more fantastical elements of the romance genre, she has found a niche that definitely works for her.
An award winning author as well, she has definitely made a name for herself as an author of some standing within the critical elite. In 2001 she won the ‘RWA Melody of Love’ contest for her work ‘The Falcon and the Dove’, which was her first novel. This allowed her to establish herself as a mainstay on the literary scene, with both the critics and the general public alike.
Travelling a lot, she would also get to see and witness a lot during her humanitarian efforts throughout her life. This would give her the insight she needed when writing, as well as allowing her a sense of catharsis when doing so. Her readers would also come to appreciate this too, giving them something to relate to when reading her work.
Currently living in Florida to this day, she resides with her husband Frank along with their two dogs. Always on the lookout for new and exciting ideas, she is constantly developing her outlook as a writer, allowing it to evolve and transform over time. This is something that will carry on into the foreseeable future, as her writing career grows from strength-to-strength every day.
The Shadow Wolf
Brought out through the Harlequin publishing outlet, this was first released upon the 23rd of August in 2011. Setting up the ninth title in the ongoing ‘Draicon Werewolves’ series of novels, this manages to continue much of the action in a similar vein as before. Working on the many threads and arcs that have already been developed, it continues them, whilst also containing enough surprises to keep readers interested.
Understanding that she has no real place in the world, Megan Moraine finds herself running from the authorities. With Shadow Wolves being out-casted from the world, she still feels she must attempt to protect her young charges. That’s when she comes up against Gabriel Robichaux, an ever ruthless bounty hunter who is a part of the Enforcers tasked with hunting her kind down. Why, then, is she so attracted to her enemy? Is there something between them? What will become of the Shadow Wolf?
The Mating Seduction
This was originally brought out out as a ‘Smashwords Edition’ publication, as it was initially released on the 1st of November in 2013. Marking the third title in the ‘Werewolves of Montana’ series of novels, it manages to continue the overall narrative arc. Delivering what the readers have now come to expect from the series, it works at developing both the world and the characters contained within.
Set in the murky and ever sensual world of Lupine, this is a land where the need to mate consumes everything else. It is here that Lexie Walters is attempting to get back her champion horse when she is caught stealing by none other than Jackson Palmer, a sexy werewolf cowboy. Offering her the ultimatum of seven nights in his bed for a chance to ride the horse once again and win the upcoming rodeo, she sees no other alternative. Will she be able to resist the passion he makes her feel, though? Can she win the rodeo? What will become of her in the mating seduction?
