Lorana Hoopes is an American romance, Christian, and children’s author. Originally a resident of Texas, she now lives in Pacific Northwest with her husband and their three children. When not writing pages for her next book, you will find Lorana singing/acting or practicing kickboxing at her local gym. She also hosts her show on Write the World, where she interviews writers and authors.

While Lorana is not picky about the books she reads, she sometimes prefers reading the works of famous authors like Hudson Parker, Frank Peretti, and Ted Dekker.

The Cowboy’s Reality Bride
This is the first book in the Blushing Brides series by Lorana Hoopes. We are introduced to Tyler, a young man who has had trouble finding and keeping a girlfriend. If he is to fall in love again, he wants to be sure that the person he falls in love with is the right woman for him.

One of his friends, Nancy, advises him to audition for a reality show, hoping that Tyler could get the right woman for himself. At first, Tyler is hesitant and doesn’t believe that he’d get picked for the show, and more so, he isn’t sure whether it’s the right thing to do. He applies, and lo and behold; he gets picked.

On the other hand, we meet Laney. She takes a temporary job as a makeup artist that her friend Maryanne had aided her in securing it. Laney gets assigned to Tyler to make sure that he looks the best for the camera. And like Tyler, she hasn’t had a stroke of good luck in finding a man who can love her for who she is, and even worse, she hasn’t had success in getting boys to notice her. As a result, her insecurities pile up with each passing relationship.

Soon there are sparks between Tyler and Laney. Their chemistry with one another was not something they expected, nor did the show executives. But as the show progresses, it’s clear to everyone that the attraction between the two is unstoppable.

Lorana Hoopes does a fantastic job in creating wonderful, down-to-earth characters and looking for something to last their lifetime. The story is well written and follows a unique approach to romance you wouldn’t find in most romance books. The two main characters are both believable and relatable; even though they have never been lucky in love, they are both believers and have faith in God. This is a great story that shows that God always has plans for our lives regardless of how broken we are, as long as we believe.
Lawfully Pursued

In Lawfully Pursued, we meet Brie Carter, the daughter of a tycoon who has lived off her daddy’s wealth throughout her life. Anything that she ever wanted, whether partying or shopping, has always been fulfilled without her doing anything substantial.

She accepts a daring bet from her friend Ariel to make a man fall in love with her and eventually propose. The price for the dare is that Ariel would make sure that Brie gets a date with her movie star brother, Kade.

Meet Jesse Calhoun, a young man serving on the SWAT team in New York. When the other friends from his team enjoy a night out drinking, it’s not something that fascinates him since he became a staunch Christian. One evening, his friends persuade him to join them at a local bar after a bad day at work that results in several deaths, and Jesse unwillingly accepts.

As fate would have it, or rather say as the plan would have it, Brie and Ariel show up at the bar, and while there, Ariel picks one of the six men that Brie must approach and seduce. Brie plays her part, buys beer for the men, and approaches them where they invite her to join them. The plan is finally working, but there’s a problem- Jesse isn’t cooperative. It will take some convincing from Brendan to have Jesse finally see that Brie wants him for herself.

But soon, Brie’s world will come spiraling down when her father notices her out-of-control spending habits and directs her to either get a job or find a husband in just a month. Learning from Brendan that Jesse’s favorite spot is Java Hut, Brie gets a job there in hopes of getting to spend time with Jesse.

To Brie, Jesse feels so different from the men she normally meets, but there is uniqueness and true likeness about him that makes her call the bet with Ariel. Getting to know Jesse is a blessing, and they both introduce each other to their unique worlds. Jesse soon gets Brie to visit the children’s hospital and shower them with presents to bring joy to their lives. He also invites her to church to help her learn more about God, allowing him to test whether she is the right woman for him or not.

Lawfully Pursued is a well thought Christian romance story about two people, each with a different lifestyle taking a chance to pursue a relationship. It is a story about a devoted Christian showing true love to a non-Christian with love, acceptance, and forgiveness without judging. Throughout this love, Christian romance is bathed in God’s love.

Jesse is a devoted Christian and an understanding man. He is never pushy about God or his religion, allowing Brie enough time to make up her mind. He is a man who reflects on his own belief, and in the long run, the more he spends with Brie, the less she wants earthly fortunes. Brie continues to work her job and makes up her mind to go back to school, but that proves to be a challenge as not everyone is happy with these changes as trouble looms around the corner. Does the world stand a chance against two Christian lovebirds who have already made up their minds?

Lawfully Pursued is a perfect example of putting faith and trust in God, especially during difficult moments, and learning to think and pray for others. It’s a story full of second chances, and fresh beginnings, with relationship with God being at the center of everything else.
