M.R. Forbes
M. R. Forbes spent his childhood attempting to read every scifi novel that he could find (and write some of his own as well), see every scifi movie that made it into the theater, and play every scifi video game, he’s truly got a deep love of the genre across any and every medium. He works hard to bring that same exact energy to the stories he writes, with a continuing goal to surprise, fascinate, entertain, and delight.
“Balance” is the first novel in the “Divine” series and was released in 2013. Hell and Heaven are battling for the fate of billions, and these billions have got nobody left to fight for them. Until now. His name is Landon Hamilton, and he’s an identity thief, hacker, and ex-con. So he’s made some mistakes, yet he’s just a regular guy that is attempting to get by in this strange world. Except for one minor thing: he’s already dead.
This world really is crazy, huh? He got caught in the middle of the war between good and evil (yep, an actual real thing), killed and then sent on his merry way down. Landon didn’t make it all the way, however. He got intercepted by Dante (yep, that Dante). It appears he had other things in store for Landon.
Turns out, his soul is this perfect balance of evil and good, and his ancestry just so happens to be part of this unholy triumvirate of human, demon, and angel, which is incredibly rare, apparently. Turns out that Dante has got the power to send Landon on back to the mortal realm, along with some cool magic and these instructions on how he’s supposed to use it. To bad this one sexy vampire girl smashed them while he was crushing on her.
Oh and turns out that the Queen of All Demons managed to acquire the Holy Grail, and now the one and only thing standing between her and Armageddon is, well… Landon. It isn’t like it’d be the end of the world if he fails. Oh, wait. It is.
“Starship Eternal” is the first novel in the “War Eternal” series and was released in 2015. A dire warning from futures past, a lost starship, and a desperate search for salvation.
Captain Mitchell “Ares” Williams is a Space Marine and the hero of the Battle for Liberty, whose Shot Heard ‘Round the Universe saved the whole planet from an almost unstoppable war machine. He is charismatic, handsome, and the perfect poster boy to help the military drive enlistment. Pulled out of the war and thrust into the spotlight, he is just as efficient at charming the media as he was at shooting down enemy starfighters.
After an assassination attempt leaves him critically wounded, he starts suffering these odd hallucinations which carry a chilly and strangely familiar warning: They’re coming. Find the Goliath of all humankind is going to be destroyed.
Convinced that these visions are merely a side-effect of his injuries, he attempts to ignore them, just to learn that he might not be nearly as crazy as he first believed. The enemy is in fact real and even closer than he had imagined, and they will do whatever it takes to keep him from rediscovering the centuries lost starship.
Mitchell, narrowly escaping capture and out of both air and time, lands at the mercy of the Riggers, which are a ragtag crew of ex-commandos that patrol the lawless outer reaches of the galaxy. Guided by a captain that has a reputation for cold-blooded murder, they are immoral, dangerous, and possibly even insane.
“Hell’s Rejects” is the first novel in the “Chaos of the Covenant” series and was released in 2017. The most powerful of starships ever built are now gone. Thousands are dead, and a fleet is in ruins. Attackers unknown. The orders are clear: recover the ships, and bury the bastards that stole them.
Lieutenant Abigail Cage never expected she’d find herself in Hell. Being that she was a Highly Specialized Operational Combatant, she was one of the respected soldiers in all of the military. While now she is doing hard labor on the most miserable planet in all the universe. Not for long.
The Earth Republic is looking for the most dangerous individuals that it can control. They’re looking for the best of the worst, and Abbey happens to be one of the worst. It’s a simple deal: bring back the starships and earn your freedom. But try running, and you die. It is a suicide mission, however she’s got nothing to lose.
Only problem? There’s now a new threat in the galaxy. One that has been waiting for this moment for a very long time. One with a power unlike any other ever seen previously. And they want Abbey as well. Be careful what you wish for. They say that Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. They’ve got no idea.
“Earth Unknown” is the first novel in the “Forgotten Earth” series and was released in 2018. A horrible discovery, and a secret which could destroy all of human civilization. Desperately escaping to the most dangerous planet in the whole universe: Earth.
Two hundred years ago, one fleet of colony ships left planet Earth and began a settlement on Proxima Centauri.
Nathan Stacker, a Centurion Space Force pilot, did not expect to come back home to find his wife dead. He also did not expect her killer to look exactly like him, and he did not expect to be the one that’d be taking the blame. However his wife was in control of a most powerful secret. A secret which stretches across the light years between two worlds and might lead to both’s end.
Now that this secret is in Nathan’s possession, and he is going to make the most desperate evasive maneuver of his whole life, stealing a starship and setting a course for Earth. He believes he is going to be safe there, but he’s wrong. Very wrong.
Earth is nothing like what he was expecting, not even close. What he does not yet know is not only likely to kill him. It is eager to murder him, and even if it doesn’t? Well the sheriff will.
