Maddie Evans
Maddie Evans is a slightly offbeat romantic that believes in the combination of hard work and love.
She has lived in three New England states for more than two decades. When she is not spending time with her family, she is running around town or biking and exploring different dirt trails. Also sometimes caring for her tropical fish or doing things with yarn.
“A 5K and a Kiss” is the first novel in the “Brighthead Running Club Romances” series and was released in 2019. Welcome to Brighthead, Maine, a coastal town where the hearts are warm and the winters are cold.
Aileen Duncan, still reeling after her sister’s sudden death, gets this offer from the Brighthead Running Club. They are holding a 5K in Kelly’s honor, and they promise that running it is going to help heal Aileen’s heart. Aileen believes a three mile race sounds like the furthest thing from healing, yet they then offer to train her, and by “they” means “Trey”, this cute guy that is always up to go on an adventure. He is her opposite in so many ways, however maybe that is exactly what she needs.
Trey hasn’t ever held much to schedules. Life is much too short not to have some fun with it. He would love to take Aileen’s pain away, and running is the best way that he knows. She enjoys herself when she is with him. If it leads to anything more, he is all in. the more miles that they run, the less they’re able to deny the attraction. With Aileen’s life upended, however, she craves security. Whereas with Trey, there is always something unexpected around the bend.
“A 5K and a Kiss” brings together an unlikely pair racing to find love somewhere between the start and finish line. Love is not some sprint, it’s a long run.
This is a well written novel, one that’s well paced with real characters with real weaknesses and strengths.
“Heart of the Violist” is the first novel in the “Castleton String Quartet” series and was released in 2020. Ashlyn might just finally have her life under control. Abandoned by her own mom while she was just a kid, she found a home when the Castletons embraced her as their fourth kid. Nowadays, she plays viola in the Castleton String Quartet. She has got rent money and a family. What more could she really ask for?
After Michael has spent months of searching for his biological family, he’s just seen his DNA results. Astonishingly, he’s got a full sister, a violinist named Lindsey Castleton. A frenzied drive later, he finds Lindsey performing with her string quartet, alongside the most beautiful woman that he has ever seen.
The Castleton siblings insist that this report’s wrong since their parents weren’t even in the same country when Michael was born. Could this be a scam? The deeper that they dig into Michael’s story, however, the more that Ashlyn wants him to be a Castleton, Michael appears strong, stable, and reliable. Not to mention his dusky voice and gorgeous eyes.
While each answer only reveals more questions, Ashlyn and Michael are drawn together by the brokenness of their past. In order to achieve the potential of their future, Ashlyn’s going to have to trust Michael enough to open up her heart, yet with trust always comes the risk of betrayal.
A story about the families that we’re born into and the families that love can make for each of us.
“Soul of the Cellist” is the second novel in the “Castleton String Quartet” series and was released in 2021. Hannah Staples (a cellist) is always a rock for her mom, and has just learned that her phone is filled with spyware and a tracker, and her creepy stepfather is the one that’s tracking her. Within just forty-eight hours, a terrified Hannah winds up losing her family, her home, and her security. All that is left is her cello, and custody of her little brother. Ashamed and horrified, Hannah reaches out to the rest of the Castleton String Quartet and the other members of the Hartwell music community.
Enrique Almendarez (a tenor and Hannah’s longtime crush) never really noticed Hannah up til now. Seeing her in distress, he hungers to do anything he can to keep her safe, whether it is helping her move, finding some community service work for her brother, or possibly taking her out to dinner. Her family has always kept her from starting a relationship. Well maybe now’s the time. Enrique can maybe be the one that shows Hannah how a real man treasures the ones that he loves.
While the bombshells continue detonating in her life, she begins redefining what family means. Allowing Enrique into her heart means allowing herself to trust when everybody in her life has proven themselves to be untrustworthy, however trust is tough to earn and is easy to lose.
Maddie takes us deep into how the families we came from shape the families that we build.
“Highway of the Heart” is the first novel in the “Runaway Train” series and was released in 2020. Casey’s brand new in the town of Sweet Grove, having hitchhiked in with some delivery truck and is ready to hitch a ride back out again when she finds some guy attempting to save this litter of abandoned puppies. She hops the fence and breaks into this locked shed to get them out, yet now they have a whole bunch of mouths to feed.
Peter is a straight-laced man that has been helping out at his dad’s siding business, however just as soon as her graduates high school, he is entering into the military.
Peter has got his entire future planned out, and Casey does not fit into it at all. Even still, she is the most intriguing gal that he has ever met. Although she has sworn she will never accept help from anybody, she is about to come face to face with one crisis that she cannot solve on her own, and it’s possible that Peter cannot help her either.
