M. L. Hamilton
M.L. Hamilton has been teaching high school English and journalism in Central California for more than 25 years. Having always loved books, it made a lot of sense that she would become a journalism and English teacher.
This career, plus raising her three sons by herself kept her quite busy for many years. But the urge to write and get published could not be ignored, however, and it is a good thing that she prioritized to chase this dream.
Teaching kids to appreciate literature has made her career very rewarding, but she’s always dreamed about publishing a novel of her own. In the year 2010, this dream finally came true for her, with “Emerald” being published by Wild Wolf Publishing.
When it got picked up, she gave herself five years to turn a profit, which she did during the second year. This book, combined with “Ravensong”, a romance novel, placing in Amazon’s top 100 list, showed her that writing could be more than merely a passion.
People buying these books have been more than just praise. They also were scholarships, in a way. As her three sons had grown up and were starting to go to college, and the proceeds helped make it so that there were three fewer young people with mountains of college debt.
She finds that reading for pleasure to be a great inspiration because it makes her want to write herself. Very strongly written television shows are also able to spark her inspiration.
“Emerald” is the first novel in the “World of Samar” series and was released in the year 2010. In a single horrible instant, Kai gets tossed out of his privileged life and into a conflict that started long before he was born. Even worse, he discovers that the one guy able to help him is actually his enemy.
Kiameron is the crown prince of DiNolfol. He’s torn between two different destinies: assuming the crown after his dad’s death or answering the call of his non-Human traits, abilities that are associated with the mysterious Stravad.
The choice is made for him when everything he holds dear is destroyed. Armed with just his burgeoning powers and one mysterious talisman that he doesn’t know how to use, he strikes back at Gava, a despot that ruined his life.
Crippled by his own fear and self-doubt, he falters in his journey, until he meets a guy that forces him into taking action. But this new ally hides secrets, ones that will rob him of everything that he holds sacred.
“The Heirs of Eldon” is the second novel in the “World of Samar” series and was released in the year 2011. Tash and Tav may have been born twins, however they each want something different out of life. Tav would rather study with the great scholars in Voltarian, as Tash wants to follow in their dad’s footsteps and become a hero. Neither one is ready for what fate’s got in store for them.
With Loden facing war yet again, an upstart king decides that he’s got the answer. Unite all seven of the protectorates under a single flag. Can he accomplish this dream? Can the sons of Kiameron keep him alive long enough for him to find out?
“The Star of Eldon” is the third novel in the “World of Samar” series and was released in the year 2015. The Seven Protectorates have enjoyed years of peace under Tav’s leadership, however a growing worry has surfaced.
What about the land beyond Loden’s borders? Where once there were overtures of trade, there’s now nothing. Tav decides he’ll send a diplomatic expedition to re-establish contact with them, however who should go? Adventure runs in the blood of Tash’s kids, particularly in Shara, his headstrong daughter.
She wants nothing more than to be a part of this expedition to Nevaisser, however her dad’s never going to agree to this. He fears for her safety, yet a rash choice on his part takes the choice out of his hands and sets in motion a series of events that could have far reaching repercussions.
Nevaisser is a land boiling over with conflict and at its heart is this mysterious stranger that hides secrets which will test the alliance of the Seven Protectorates. A journey started to keep Loden safe might result in ripping it apart.
“The Spirit of Eldon” is the fourth novel in the “World of Samar” series and was released in the year 2015. A fateful mistake altered the course of Talar’s whole life. It cost him his sight, his mom, and his own freedom. He swore that he would never go back to Loden, however Shara changed that.
Now he finds that he’s caught up in the existence that he fled from, being hounded by the Nazarien, stalked by Erram, and is trapped by the Lord of Loden himself. More pressing is his struggle with his own demons. He’s no longer able to control his powers and nobody seems able to help him at all. Except possibly for the Stravad.
Wanting to save himself and his marriage, he pleads with Shara to accompany him to Temeron, however Erram is waiting. Once he swore that he’d never become merely a pawn in his dad’s history, however prophecies aren’t meant to be ignored. Talar knows that he will eventually need to face what he fears the most, however does he have the strength that his dad lacked or is the battle going to destroy him?
“Murder on Potrero Hill” is the first novel in the “Peyton Brooks’ Mystery” series and was released in the year 2013. Peyton Brooks knows that the first suspect is the husband, however Jake Ryder does not act like a usual suspect does. He truly loved his wife. So what was it that went wrong?
Peyton, while stepping foot into the circle of the social elite, finds that things work much differently when you are at the very top. And Jake appears to be caught right in the eye of the storm.
Peyton ultimately finds that you just never know what darkness is lurking in the human mind and that some are going to murder in order to keep such a darkness hidden.
