About Shelley Adina

A Canadian writer, Shelley Adina is well known for her paranormal romance titles, infusing elements of science-fiction and fantasy into them as well. The author of largely Young Adult novels, she really knows her audience and what it is they’re looking for in her stories. Open to a whole range of different ideas and influences, she has definitely made a strong name for herself, attracting readers from all across the world. Anyone looking to find a fun and entertaining novelist with something to say should find that her work is perfectly suited to their needs.

Early and Personal Life

Shelley Adina would be born on Vancouver Island in Canada, and would grow up with a strong love of romance novels and literature in general. This would progress as time went on, leading the way to the writing career that she currently has and enjoys to this very day. Pursuing this throughout her education, she would go on to attend Seton Hill University in Pennsylvania, whereby she would gain and MFA for writing popular fiction.

Later she would also go on to gain a number of passions as well, including Edwardian fashion and drapery, along with old comic books and a sense of the vintage. Eventually, though, this would all feed back into her own work, as she would use much of her interests to inspire her material and what she was writing about. Altogether this has lead her to where she currently is today, which is continuing to write and produce work from her home in Vancouver, Canada.

Writing Career

Starting out with her debut novel ‘It’s All About Us’ in 2008, Shelley Adina would embark on a lifelong career of creating popular romance fiction. Eschewing a number of popular series and franchises too, her first collection would be called ‘Glory Prep’, and many of them would feature faith as an underlying principle. This would then become a recurring theme throughout much of her work moving on from this, as it would feature prominently within her novels.

Openly making many of her characters reflect her own ideas, she would use many of her stories to convey a clear message. Personal principles would make up much of the driving force of her stories, along with recurring concepts, such as her interest in Amish culture and society. Reaching a worldwide level of fame with her work has helped prove just how successful this formula of hers really is and will continue to be.

Magnificent Devices

Evident for a long time that the work of Shelley’s was proving to be successful, this would mark the third title in the ‘Magnificent Devices’ series. Taking its cue from the first two novels, it would continue in a similar vein to the previous books, with some extra twists and turns along the way. The book itself would be released on the 4th of October in 2012 through the ‘Moonshell Books’ publishing label to much acclaim too.

Time has gone by for the Steampunk genre and it’s still proven to be a success when the formula is turned on its head as is evident here. Shelley Adina has created a novel and subsequent series using characters that really resonate with her audience, regardless of the fantastical background of the story. Helming this title itself is the character of Lady Claire Trevalyan, as she must deal with a brave new world before her. In regards to the world building itself, the story is brilliantly realized, as Adina develops the surrounding environments with amazing precision.

All set to board an airship to the Americas, Lady Claire Trevalyan is to accompany the Earl of Dunsmuir’s family on the voyage. The main issue, though, is that she doesn’t want to be forced into marriage, especially with her impending eighteenth birthday on the horizon. This means that she must stay out of the way of Lord James Selwyn, but it would appear that he is in the Americas too. That’s when Andrew Malvern is all closing in on him with the device he stole, and an ensuing battle with pirates leaves Claire to brave it herself across this harsh new terrain. Will Lord Selwyn ever catch up with her? Can she manage to keep out of his way, and will Andrew find her again? What will become of their magnificent devices?

Reach for Me: The Men of CLEU

Coming out through the Moonshell Books Incorporated publishing label, this would mark the third title in the Moonshell Bay series. Released on the 14th of September in 2016, it would set-up another romance story in the much loved franchise of novels. Following on thematically from the previous titles, it manages to create another self-contained romance story in the highly popular already established world.

Using many of the traditional tropes and conventions of the romance story, Adina really has managed to turn them on their head here. Combining romance and passion with action and adventure, she has also interjected a large degree of action into the story as well. This makes for a compelling read where the reader is really invested in the plight and the eventual outcome of each of the characters. Not only that, but the world is well realized too, with certain arcs and threads coming in from the previous novels too.

Looking to always bring the bad people to justice, Investigator Joanna MacPherson would always aim to get the job done whatever the cost. This means that occasionally she does sometimes go a little overboard when trying to do the right thing, as she must go that extra mile when making it in a man’s world. Getting placed on probation by the Washington State Covert Law Enforcement Unit, of ‘CLEU’ for short, she’s keen on proving herself once again. That’s when Cooper Maxwell has the perfect job for her, as he’s looking to track down a dangerous and elusive individual aiming to coerce women into dangerous tasks. Will they be able to track them down before it’s to late? Can Cooper fight the feelings of passion he’s feeling towards Joanna? What will happen when he eventually says ‘reach for me’?
