Fiona Faris is a bestselling American author of Scottish and Medieval historical romance fiction.
Before becoming a romance fiction author, she had worked in a variety of occupations. Some of these include dog training, programming and substitute English teachers.

“Her Highland Secret” by Fiona Faris is a bodice-ripping and rip-roaring work set in the Scottish highland.
The lead is Emma who finds herself in a bad situation given that her father owes a ton of money to Commander Evans for gambling. Her father tells her that she would have to marry the vile man to pay the debt but she does not intend to sit on her laurels.
While she is being sent to Evans, one of the wheels of the carriage breaks and she takes the opportunity to escape by appealing to a Scottish couple who agree to help her as long as she never sets foot in their barn.
It turns out that in the barn is the new leader of the McGill Clan, Lucas MacGill, who needs to head back home as soon as he can. However, he first needs to recover from battle wounds he got fighting the British at Dunedin.
This is where Emma comes in since her mother is a healer and she knows everything about how to take care of wounds. However, by staying at the barn, they are endangering everyone and hence they are sent to Clan McGill Castle.
