Jen Calonita is a prolific American writer of young adult, children’s fiction, romance, and fantasy novels. She has penned several widely successful novel series in her career, including the Belles series, the Secrets of My Hollywood Life series, the Whispering Pines series, the Fairy Tale of Reform School series, and the VIP series. Calonita says that she has been writing stories since she was very small. The first story that she attempted to write was when she was studying in 4th grade. Calonita loves to write romance stories for teens and middle-grade readers. She entered into the world of novel writing with the first book of her series, Secrets of My Hollywood Life. This books of this series follow the story of a teenage celebrity named Kaitlin Burke. Kaitlin struggles to manage her fame. A very popular book series written by author Jen Calonita is known as the VIP series. It consists of two books in total published between 2015 and 2016. Each of the two books features the primary character in the role of Mackenzie Lowell. The other essential characters mentioned by Calonita include Zander Welling, Heath Holland, Kyle Beyer, and a few others. The debut book of the series is entitled ‘VIP: I’m With the Band’. It was released in 2015 by the Little Brown publishers. The book introduces Mackenzie Lowell as a 12-year-old girl, who dreams of touring with a band. She is commonly referred to as Mac by her near and dear ones. With the assistance of her mother, Mac succeeds in getting the opportunity to tour with her favorite band, Perfect Storm, as an official member.
Mac brings along her journal in which she intends to note down every moment of the band and the killer smiles of the lead singer named Zander Welling. In between their numerous stops, the band members, Kyle Beyer, Heath Holland, and Zander Welling share pranks with Mac. They bond very well with passing day and treat Mac like their sister. Later, the boys begin to fight over personal differences and get driven apart. Mac tries to do her best as the group’s biggest fan to remind them about the qualities that make them perfect. She ends up bringing the band together again with the help of her alter ego named Mac Attack. The series’ second installment is called ‘VIP: Battle of the Bands’. It was also published by the same publishing company in 2016. Just like the previous novel, this novel also features the same set of main characters. Initially, Mac is seen enjoying her time with Zander’s band on tours. After several successful tours, it comes to the notice of Mac that some copycats and haters have come up that have started copying the songs of her favorite band. One such copycat band, Thunder & Lightning, challenges Perfect Storm for a simultaneous summer tour. But, before the tour could take place, more Perfect Storm’s songs and secrets get leaked into the public. Mac suspects that all the secrets are entered in her own journal, so it is possible that something is taking them from there without her knowledge. She tries to find the culprit and put an end to the leaks before the image of Perfect Storm gets maligned furthermore. Once again, Mac takes the help of Mac Attack, her comic-book alter ego. This book turned out to be an exciting read for the readers, who enjoyed every bit of the story and allowed it to become successful through their wonderful reviews.
