The pen-name of American author Julie Anne Lindsey, Julie Chase is fast becoming a quality brand in of itself. Synonymous with clear-cut cozy mysteries, she has used this particular pseudonym for building her profile within this specific literary field. As a thriller writer she has been able to craft a series of highly compelling mysteries that manage to engage her audience, building a rapport of sorts with them in the process.

Early and Personal Life

Born and raised in the United States of America, the novelist Julie Anne Lindsey spent the majority of her formative years in Ohio, specifically in Green. It was during her upbringing that she’d create her style, most notably her work as Julie Chase was also largely due to this. Harnessing her keen love of the written word, she would come to learn both reading and writing as an art-form throughout the years.

Learning the tools of her trade, she finely crafted her style throughout the course of her education as a novelist to be. All through school she had a keen interest in literature, and specifically the contemporary and modern romance genre. This would also come to serve her well whilst writing as Chase, as she got a lot of different ideas for stories through her various studies.

With a love of mystery novels, Julie Chase aka Julie Anne Lindsey, always knew how to craft a riveting and engaging narrative. For quite some time she has been able to engage her readers due to her highly perceptive nature and emphatic tone. A lover of animals as well, she is always adept at putting her own life into her work too, something which her readers have also come to appreciate as well.

Married with three children, she continues to write and produce a number of novels as a full-time author and novelist. As a member of the International Thriller Writers along with the Sisters in Crime, her presence is very much felt within the industry. With her career growing from strength-to-strength, this is something that shall continue for quite some time to come.

Writing Career

Producing and publishing the novel ‘Cat Got Your Diamonds’ in 2016, she brought out the first book under her pen-name Julie Chase. This was also to be the title that set-up her ongoing and highly popular ‘Kitty Couture Mystery’ series of novels. Establishing the story and characters, she managed to convey a new and exciting franchise, one that stood out from other mystery novels on the market.

Her main series under this particular pen-name is that of the ‘Kitty Couture Mystery’ franchise, of which there’s three in total planned so far. Using the cozy mystery formula as its template, it uses the genre taking it forwards, whilst creating something entirely new in the process. This is clearly a premise that she can easily expand upon, especially as time goes on in the following years to come.

Building on the audience that she currently has already with her original Julie Anne Lindsey name, she can create a whole new audience. This will allow her to expand her reach as an author, definitely marking her out as an up-and-coming talent to watch in the years to follow. Again writing about what she knows as well, she has been able to continually reinvent herself as an author and novelist.

With the reviews already coming out as well, it appears that she’s also being accepted by the critical establishment too. As the critics begin to heap praise on both her and her work, it seems that she’s going to be making a strong impact upon the mystery literary community. Setting herself apart from other writers she’s been able to build a new image and brand that will be appreciated by both the general public and critics alike.

There’s still plenty of room for her series and career as an author to develop yet under the pen-name of Julie Chase. With her husband and three children, she will carry on putting out work as a lot more novels are set to be released in the near future. As her writing career carries on growing into the foreseeable future, it appears that this particular franchise won’t be stopping anytime soon.

Cat Got Your Cash

Initially brought out through the Crooked Lane Books publishing label, this was to be the second title in the ongoing ‘Kitty Couture Mysteries’ series. First released on the 11th of April in 2017, this continued on directly from the last, providing another mystery set in this world. Carrying on much the same vein as the last, it provides all the elements that made the previous book, whilst also offering some surprise twists and turns along the way.

With her New Orleans based pet couture service well underway and already a success, Lacy Marie Crocker’s life is going well. That’s when a new mystery falls into her lap, this time involving one Annie Lane, the famous fashion designer she finds dead upon entering her apartment for an appointment. Saving her Siamese kittens from the scene of the crime, she soon learns that these cats were set to inherit Lane’s fortune and, not only that, they’ve gone missing. Will they be able to find the killer? Can they find the cats? What will happen when the killer sees the cat got your cash?

Cat Got Your Secrets

Released through the Crooked Lane Books publishing label once again, this was to be the third title in the ongoing ‘Kitty Couture Mysteries’ franchise. Originally brought out on the 12th of September in 2017, this managed to recapture the essence of what made the first two work. It’s also an extremely accessible read, and doesn’t rely on the others, although there are still some arcs brought over for the long-term fans.

Starring Lacy Marie Crocker as the eponymous protagonist once again, it sees her getting ready for the National Pet Pageant as she continues to run her pet boutique. Taking a delivery of dog treats round to a customer, though, she finds that they’ve been murdered with only the father of the victim being the last one present before she died. It is then up to Lacy to clear the name of the father and find the real killer before it’s too late, all whilst keeping the business running. Will she find the real killer? Can she keep her head above water? What happens when the cat got your secrets?
