Sarah Price is a contemporary romance and inspirational and Christian fiction author best known for her Amish fiction.
From a very young age, she knew that she wanted to write novels as an adult. She is lucky enough that she now gets to live her dream as she writes from her ranch in Archer, Florida.
Living on the farm reminds the author of her life as a child and teenager living with a Mennonite family. It also harks back to the time she spent several years living among the Amish in Pennsylvania in the mid-1970s.
Price’s ancestors first moved to the United States at the start of the 18th century when they arrived aboard the Patience. They had fled Europe to escape from the persecution of Catholics by Anabaptists.
As such, Sarah Price has in her ancestry many devout Mennonites that include ministers and church leaders over the years.
Her stories thus show an authentic and accurate reflection of living among the Amish of Lancaster County, where she lived with her grandparents during the 1970s.
Ms. Price is the holder of master’s degrees in marketing, communication, and educational leadership. She also happens to be an ordained minister.
Growing up, Sarah Price remembers that the best Christmas or birthday present anyone could give her was a book. She simply loved to read books and got her first taste when her aunt gifted her a collection of the works of Jane Austen.
She devoured all the books within a few weeks and was hooked on fiction. In the early 2000s, Erin Brady her best friend who also writes fiction suggested that she adapt Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice” into an Amish retelling.
It was from this that a lightbulb turned on in her mind. She thought it was a way of challenging herself to come up with deep storylines with suspenseful romances and rich characters.
Price wrote “Fields of Corn,” her debut novel in 2010, and has never looked back since. She now has more than seventy titles to her name including sixteen series, short story collections, and several novellas.
In her works, she brings to life her experiences living with the Amish to make her Amazon bestselling titles.
In 2013, she signed with Charisma House’s “Realms” to pen several Amish classic novels. Most of these were to be retellings of timeless Jane Austen Classics in an Amish setting.
Sarah Price now lives in Northern Florida, where she has a 50-acre horse ranch running a wild mustang sanctuary and rescue. She takes care of more than fifty ponies, burros, horses, and mules.
Whenever she can, Price often travels around the United States with Cat Zimmerman her nineteen year old daughter that happens to be a reputable wild mustang trainer.
People send mustangs and horses from across the United States to be trained at her ranch. Even though she has tried to get involved in Mustang training alongside her daughter, she found that she is better suited to writing.
Sarah also travels across the U.S. giving clinics, competing, and performing with her horses. The good thing is that she can write almost anywhere as long as she has her laptop.
“Plain Fame” by Sarah Price is the story of Amanda Beiler, a young woman traveling back home.
She is traveling through Manhattan when she is hit by a limousine. In the passenger seat of the limousine is Alejandro Diaz, a Cuban-born superstar who apologizes for the incident and promises to take care of all her bills until she recovers.
He leaves behind all the fame and takes Amanda back to Lititz, Pennsylvania where her Amish family leaves. The famous performer wants nothing more than a break from the spotlight and says he will be staying in Pennsylvania for a week to help out.
The family guardedly accepts his offer given their deeply religious convictions and determination to protect Amanda.
They could not be any more different but it is not long before they develop a genuine friendship and realize that they might have something more.
But the community fears that the paparazzi may descend upon the town if they get wind of the star’s whereabouts.
With unexpected feelings and an unwelcome spotlight, will they be able to build lasting love despite coming from very different worlds?
Sarah Price’s novel “Plain Change” continues to follow Amanda Bailer. She never imagined that her life would take such a trajectory after meeting Alejandro Diaz.
After beginning a romantic relationship with the Cuban superstar performer, she makes the decision to walk away from her Amish community. She loves them too much and does not want to subject them to the relentless attention of the media.
Away from the familiar rituals and close-knit family for the first time, she embarks on a journey across the US as Alejandro goes on a singing tour.
Under her new beau’s care, she begins to appreciate that there is more to life than what her Amish life provided to her.
In the meantime, Alejandro has been changing too and now gets a taste of what it is to have someone love him not for his celebrity status.
As their differences shrink and their connection grows, Amanda is forced to make difficult choices. Should she stay in the limelight with the man she loves or go back to the old familiar life with her Amish family?
“Plain Again” by Sarah Price opens with Amanda dearly missing Alejandro. However, she has realized how much she missed the Amish life when she was touring with her new boyfriend.
But during that time, he had also changed and while she likes the familiarity of simple Amish living, she finds some of her culture unaccepting and rigid. She also finds it unsettling that many in her Amish community treat and regard her as an outsider.
She is being treated that way for deciding to marry Alejandro rather than get baptized into the Amish church.
On his part, Alejandro is struggling to go on tour without Amanda by his side. He wants to show the world that he is a happily married man, but it is not long before the paparazzi realizes she is nto around.
There is all manner of rumors swirling around that their relationship is in trouble.
