Scarlett Scott is a USA TODAY bestselling author of steamy Regency and Victorian historical romances that come with sexy alpha heroes and intelligent and strong heroines.
She is a self-professed nerd and literary junkie loves reading anything from Middle English verse, to poetry, and romance novels.
She currently divides her time between Pennsylvania and Maryland, where she lives with her Canadian husband, two spoiled dogs, and adorable identical twins.
When she is not writing her novels, she can often be found wrangling her children, reading, writing, and indulging in an inappropriate sense of humor. Scarlet also loves to engage with her readers through the newsletter on her website.
Scott loves to call herself a farm girl at heart as she loves traveling, gardening, and anything to do with the outdoors whenever she is not writing or reading.
Like many authors, writing is something that she has been doing for years. She has been telling stories ever since she was six and in fact, she used to write and illustrate the stories she read to her first-grade class.
When she grew older, she simply shifted to romance as she used to sneak into her elder sister’s room to read Kat Martin and Johanna Lindsey novels.
Scarlet Scott developed a particular liking for Civil War romances and has asserted that if she had the time she could read “One Wore Gray” for days.
She is also a lover of sweet, hip, sexy, and funny contemporary romances that make her sigh as she reads them. Lately, she has also been reading musician romances and loves the works of Karen Booth and especially Bring Me Back.
If she has to pick a favorite book, it would have to be Rachel Gibson’s work See Jane Score.
When Scarlett Scott decided it was time to become a published author, she went the traditional route as she got her first work published in 2010. She would then publish more than a dozen titles with the traditional publisher.
Scarlet is currently working as a self-published author and does not wish to work with traditional publishers again.
Scott decided to become a self-published author when her publisher went out of business leaving the rights to her works in the balance for more than a year even as she got no royalties during that period.
When all was said and done, she went to the self-publishing route to get back the control she had lost when she was publishing under a traditional publisher.
Moreover, she never liked the fact that she could not have any control over pricing, release schedules, or cover selection and was in some instances forced to change character names and even book titles.
While she now has to work harder to publish her works, there is nothing she would not do to have that control that she loves so much.
Scarlet Scott’s novel “Wicked in Winter” is the debut novel of a steamy Regency series that follows the life and times of the Wicked Winter family.
Devereaux Winter happens to be one of the richest men in the United Kingdom and comes from a very notorious family.
The Winters are renowned and reviled in England and Devereaux will find it hard to find a good wife so that he can settle own and take care of his siblings.
The lucky thing is that the only daughter of the duke is a gorgeous unmarried woman and the duke’s wits are addled which would certainly make him very pliable.
Lady Emilia King had vowed to never engage in romance and never get married. When the boorish Devereaux manages to win most of her father’s assets in a gambling game, she is left aghast.
When she learns that he wants to marry her so that he will forgive her father’s debt, she could not have been more outraged. She does not want to marry the man and have to sponsor his wild sisters during the debutante season.
But Winter is a man who usually gets what he wants and Emilia will soon learn that he wants nothing more than her. She is soon to find herself wanting him just as much.
“Wedded in Winter” by Scarlet Scott tells the beautiful romance story of Beatrix and Merrick Hart. Beatrix has not interested in getting married to any of the people her older brother has chosen for her.
However, she has for the longest time desired one man but since he is the right-hand man to her brother, Merrick has never once looked at her that way.
When the Winter family leaves to go to the country to celebrate Christmas, they unintentionally leave Beatrix behind. Merrick reluctantly agrees to take her upcountry to join her family.
Despite the unusually cold temperatures of winter the journey soon turns heated. Merrick is unable to resist Beatrix’s charms as it happens that he has been secretly longing for her for years.
What makes it so interesting is that Beatrix knows exactly what she wants and goes after it despite being underestimated and young. Merrick is a delightfully gruff and strong man but he treats Beatrix so well to make for an adorable budding romance.
Scarlet Scott’s novel “Wanton in Winter” tells the story of a desperate earl and a defiant lady and a passion they are unable to resist.
The Earl of Hertford is Cameron Blythe, a man that is on the verge of losing everything he has to creditors after the death of his blackguard father.
The only way to get out of his predicament is to marry a wealthy woman even if that will mean he will have to align himself with the infamous Winter girls.
He does not mind any of the sisters except for Eugenia Winter, who has been the subject of scurrilous gossip that has shredded her reputation.
Eugenia leaves everyone shocked when she spurns a fortune-hunting and odious suitor who spread some shocking lies about her.
She is determined to ensure her sisters do not fall prey to a painful and similar fate. She will do anything to ensure the poverty-stricken Earl of Hertford will not marry any of her sisters.
One of her first efforts includes cornering and kissing him in a darkened winter garden. But then one kiss is never enough and Cam who has a reputation for being strictly proper soon finds himself falling for the worst Winter sister.
Much to Eugenia’s dismay, she may have to trust her heart even as she finds the earl to be irresistible.
