Brooke Cumberland is an award-winning and bestselling author who wears all manner of hats on any given day.
While she has achieved a lot of success in her own right, she now collaborates with Lyra Parish her literary and together they write under the pseudonym Kennedy Fox.
She makes her home in Packer Nation’s frozen tundra where she lives with her husband, one wild child, and their three feral dogs.
When she is not writing her novels, she can usually be found listening to inspiring music, reading romance novels, or interacting with her fans on social media. Cumberland also has an addition to late afternoon naps, leggings, and coffee.
Ever since she published “Kitchen Affairs,” her debut novel in 2013, she has never looked back since. It all started out as a hobby but it is now a full-time job. Brooke currently works between 12-15 hours every day writing her novels.
She will usually write during the morning and early afternoons before taking some time off in the evenings to interact with the family. Once her daughter has gone to bed, she will usually stay at her desk writing sometimes up to 2 am.
Before Brooke Cumberland was a full-time author, she used to be a stay-at-home mother. Even though she never intended to be a SAHM, she gave birth to her daughter six weeks after graduating from college.
In 2011, her husband got into a serious motorcycle accident and got some debilitating injuries. This was very bad for the family as Brooke was a new mother with no job and her husband was the breadwinner.
The good thing was that she started reading in 2012 when she had been encouraged by a friend to download “Fifty Shades of Grey.” This would result in a love for erotica novels that would lead her toward becoming a fiction author.
Stressed out from her husband’s condition, she turned to reading as an escape, and it turned out to be a better outlet than it had ever been before.
Her reading soon turned into writing her own erotic romance that was loosely inspired by her own romance story with her husband.
By 2014, she had more than half a dozen works to her name but it was not until she published the series The Intern that things finally changed.
Soon enough her writing surpassed her husband’s disability income and she became a professional author.
Initially, writing was more of a creative outlet for her husband’s illness a. However once she started reading, she got inspired by the feelings and emotions that reading aroused.
Now that she has been publishing for years, she gets her inspiration in other ways. She now gets inspired by her friends, her family, her readers, her writing partner, and even music.
Ever since she became a bestselling author, she has come to love writing even more than she did before. As for motivation, it all has to do with financially supporting her family.
Nonetheless, writing is still a passion, and even though it can sometimes be hard to keep going, knowing that there are readers waiting for her next book is usually a great motivator.
Brooke Cumberland’s novel “Spark” is the beautiful romance story of Velaney Wills and Eric Reilley.
She had a nasty childhood with a seemingly picture-perfect family that was anything but No one but her knows the pain of having family fail you and she has struggled with this for years.
She is currently living with Carissa her best friend and has broken off contact with her family. She is a broken woman who does not let anyone in as she is afraid of abandonment and pain.
However, everything changes when she wakes up in the arms of Eric Reilley the sexy firefighter. He lives one floor below her apartment and after he saves her from a fire, he just cannot stay away.
It is not long before they are constantly bumping into each other and spending a lot of time together. She has never been one to do relationships but no one has ever ignited a spark in her like Eric.
He refuses to let her push him away, even after she bares her heart to him about her past. What started out as a slow friendship might just turn into something more.
“Burn” by Brooke Cumberland starts out from where Spark the first novel of the series left off.
In this work, Velaney and Eric’s relationship has to navigate even more obstacles. After they are reunited Eric decides to take his lover Velaney to Texas and his childhood home.
He grew up in a loving family which is strange to Velaney who has never experienced such a loving atmosphere.
It is overwhelming but she embraces the experience even though spending time at Eric’s family ranch has somehow made her start experiencing the nightmares she believed were gone forever.
She has also become paranoid and somehow sees Aidan her brother all over the place. It seems he is stalking her life and controls everything she does and she just cannot shake her paranoia.
When they go back home, they do their best to return to their usual lives but being back in familiar surroundings brings some old emotions, particularly for Eric.
He is haunted by a dark secret and wants to tell her but does not want to relive the pain of it. This makes him push her away but she knows better than to let him push away and instead just hangs back until he is ready to bare his heart.
Brooke Cumberland’s novel “Flame” shifts gears and is more of a standalone about Carissa and Drew. She had always been the voice of reason in Velaney’s life and encouraged her to let love in even if she would not.
Finding a man has never been a problem for Carissa as they often find her. Even when she is minding her own business or working, she can always count on some men finding her or she found them.
However, she never was with a man for more than one time as she hated having any emotional attachment. She likes having fun with a man and calling all the shots but has always said that relationships are not for her.
But then things changed when she meets Drew. He is a foreign exchange student from the United Kingdom that is also an avid football player.
He is an athletic and very gorgeous man who is in the country for a few weeks before he goes back home to London.
Unlike many of the guys she had been with, she found herself spending more than one night with him. She is fascinated by the man and has been letting down her walls.
Still, she is hesitant since he will be leaving soon but he wants to make the most of their time while they still have it.
