Five Nights at Freddy’s is an indie video game series that has spun off into a series of successful books. The video game series is based on a fictional Freddy Gazbear’s Pizza restaurant which is loosely based on restaurants like Chuck E. Cheese and ShowBiz Pizza, where a night security guard is dealing with the animatronic characters who become mobile and homicidal after hours. The book series picks up in the aftermath of those events.

Five Nights at Freddy’s: The Silver Eyes is the first novel in the series and was written by Scott Cawthon and Kira Breed-Wrisley. Cawthon says that the books aim to expand the mythos and reveal a human element that has never been seen before in the games. There is also a film adaptation of the series with Cawthon in a key role.
