Skip Langdon & Talba Wallis by Julie Smith

Skip Langdon is the protagonist in a series of mystery novels by American author Julie Smith. She works as a policewoman in New Orleans, Louisiana. The novel 82 Desire would introduce readers to a new character from Julie Smith, which was Talba Wallis (aka Baroness de Pontalba). Talba is a black poet and computer expert who also does some investigating on the side. Both series are set in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Julie Smith began her Skip Langdon series in 1990 with the novel New Orleans Mourning. The novel 82 Desire would debut Talba Wallis, who received her own spin-off starting in 2001 with Louisiana Hotshot. The latest Skip Langdon novel was Mean Woman Blues, published in 2003. The final Talba Wallis novel was P.I. on a Hot Tin Roof, which was published in 2005.
